Description
This is a simple utility that will allow you to create aliases to unequip items. This is primarilly handy for unequipping the SecondaryWeapon/Shield slot for those that want to swap weapons without opening the character panel.

Installation:
Just download and unzip the file to your Plugins folder.
This plugin doesn't have any external dependancies.

Usage:
Create an alias, either in a built-in Quickslot or in a "slot" plugin with the format "/unequip %1" where %1 is the name of one of the valid equipment slots: Back, Boots, Bracelet1, Bracelet2, Chest, Class, CraftTool, Earring1, Earring2, Gloves, Head, Instrument, Legs, Necklace, Pocket, PrimaryWeapon, RangedWeapon, Ring1, Ring2, SecondaryWeapon, Shield or Shoulder.

ex: to unequip your secondary weapon, use:
/unequip SecondaryWeapon

Note, some slots have more than one valid name (Turbine's choice, I just went with what they gave us) such as SecondaryWeapon and Shield both referring to the same slot. The slot name in the alias is not case sensitive, I just type them that way for ease of reading.

If there is no empty inventory slot to put the item into, an error message will be displayed and the item will not be unequipped. Note that there is still a known bug in the Turbine Backpack object which can cause "ghost" items to appear to be occupying bag slots, if this occurs, simply unload and reload the plugin (there's no other fix for this issue until Turbine fixes the Backpack).

I was not able to reproduce any of the EquippedItems stability issues on my system but I know a lot of people reported crashes after accessing EquippedItems. Turbine has not indicated that they have fixed any Lua stability issues since RoR so I would say this has probably not been fixed.

Okey, thanks anyway

Unequipper let me change entire items sets in 1 click with Logitech macro so I am happy and only reason I asked is because then I would only have to use one hotbar space instead of three

This plugin is really designed as a basic example of how an item can be unequipped. Given the current state of Lua in LotRO and the lack of communication from Turbine, I can not at this time justify further enhancing any existing plugins or publishing any additional plugins. I have written a plugin, Valet, which not only allows unequipping multiple items, but allows defining and swapping entire equipment sets (with multiple clicks) but it is highly unlikely that it will be published since the EquippedItems object is one of the objects known to contribute to client crashes.

Aha! Now I understand this mod's intent. I have run into this problem myself on occasion. Generally while performing character equipment overhauls and cycling through items to make sure the benefits of a new item are worthwhile.

Swapping in this manner works for all locations, with every item I've tried. So what need is there to unequip something through this mod? But if you want to swap for something, you just place the item in the quickslot bars. The only potential use I can imagine is having two 1H items equipped and needing to unequip one in order to be able to equip a 2H item.

Thanks for the frank question. As you noted, the use of this plugin is a wee bit obscure and will only be obvious to those who have run into the issue that it helps resolve.

This issue arises when you want to swap the SECONDARY item of a type, such as your secondary weapon for dual wielders or secondary ring, etc. Clicking on an alternate item in your inventory will ALWAYS swap it with the first item if both slots are already full. You can only put an item into a secondary slot if it is empty. So, without this plugin, if you want to swap BOTH rings or BOTH weapons, you had to open the character panel and unequip the secondary item by dragging it to your inventory.

A true equipment set swapper isn't possible with Lua (yet). But for people who wish to swap both items of the same type, either both rings, both bracelets, both weapons, off-hand weapon for shield or shield for off-hand weapon, etc. this plugin eliminates the need to open the character panel and bags and drag items to their bags. Not a huge deal for most people, but for a limited group, it is a pretty big deal, especially when you need to swap while in combat when there's no time to be fooling with the character panel, bags and drag & drop (imagine if in the rush to unequip something you wind up dropping it on the ground and accidentally click OK on the confirmation... yikes!).

A little while back, one RPing player made a request for a plugin to allow them to unequip weapons when they get into town so that they didn't have to go through the minor hassle of opening the Character panel and bags and dragging their weapon and shield to their inventory. This plugin also works nicely for that purpose as well.

P.S. in your example of swapping two 1 hand items for a single 2 hand item, the old quickslot solution works just fine, both 1 handers just get dumped into your inventory. This was actually the old workaround for swapping dual wielders, you would temporarily swap to a 2 hander, then swap to the second set of 1 handers since equipping the 2 hander effectively cleared the secondary weapon slot. The only benefit to using Unequipper in that scenario is that you don't have to keep a 2 hander in your inventory.
