At a loss

I just transcribed a song in musescore. Saved it as a midi file. Went in to Maestro and turned it into an .abc file. It plays in Maestro and abcplayer. In game using the plugin, I get the message Couldn't find tune index in song file. First time in 6 years I have seen this error message - ideas?

There is a button in settings page that allows you to add more shortcut slots. I don't remember if there was any hard limit, but you should be able to fit quite many if you make the window wider.

Well, nobody seems to be interested in trying out my perl script on the Mac.

However, I just discovered that there is a modified version of this plugin that supports Mac. See https://www.linawillow.org/home/plugins-2/songbook/
Wow, great! I didn't know about this .

Okay, I wrote a Perl script that should do the job. (My understanding is that Perl comes installed on MacOS X by default.) I don't have a Mac, so I developed this script using Linux. It should work on the Mac, however.

Perhaps you, Arminya, can give it a try, and if it works, Chiran can include it in the .zip file. If it doesn't work, let me know the error message(s), and I can probably fix it.

To run it:
  1. Download the script from here.
  2. Save the file into your Plugins/Chiran folder (the same folder where Songbook.hta resides).
  3. Open a command-line terminal and run the following command:
    perl "/Users/username/Library/Application Support/com.turbine.lotroclient/Plugins/Chiran/discover_songs.pl"
  4. Let me know what happens.

Yes, it's actually very simple script which can be ported to any environment really. Only thing it tries to be smart about is locating lotro data folders.

Thanks =)

Thanks Thurallor. That would be great. Anything to get it sorted would be much appreciated!

Thanks for the swift response Chiran. Looks like a good little plugin. I just wish I could get that .hta to read my music directory. I would run it under Wine as you suggest, but Wine doesn't work correctly on my Mac anymore. I have a rather old mac. I keep it running Lotro by the will of Eru.

Hi Arminya,

As you said it's made for Windows, and I don't really have an idea how Windows special directories are mapped in the script when running on a Mac. Probably very badly.. Maybe it could work if you run it (or the exe version) under Wine. But I have no way to test it at the moment.

.hta not reading my song files, please help

I can't seem to get the .hta to read my songs. I'm on a Mac. I can run it through the terminal just fine, but it doesn't see my songs which are in the music folder. What can I do to fix this?

Music files are located here and works fine in Lotro in all other cases accept when trying to use this plugin:
/Users/Myusername/Library/Application Support/com.turbine.lotroclient/Music

Your plugin is here and loads into the game, but no songs:
/Users/Myusername/Library/Application Support/com.turbine.lotroclient/Plugins/Chiran

When I run the .hta through terminal I get the following:

Myusername:~ Myusername$ /Users/Myusername/Library/Application\ Support/com.turbine.lotroclient/Plugins/Chiran/songbook.hta ; exit;
/Users/Myusername/Library/Application Support/com.turbine.lotroclient/Plugins/Chiran/songbook.hta: line 1: head: No such file or directory
/Users/Myusername/Library/Application Support/com.turbine.lotroclient/Plugins/Chiran/songbook.hta: line 2: title: No such file or directory
/Users/Myusername/Library/Application Support/com.turbine.lotroclient/Plugins/Chira: command not founde 3:

/Users/Myusername/Library/Application Support/com.turbine.lotroclient/Plugins/Chiran/songbook.hta: line 15: Dim: command not found
/Users/Myusername/Library/Application Support/com.turbine.lotroclient/Plugins/Chiran/songbook.hta: line 16: Dim: command not found
/Users/Myusername/Library/Application Support/com.turbine.lotroclient/Plugins/Chiran/songbook.hta: line 17: Dim: command not found
/Users/Myusername/Library/Application Support/com.turbine.lotroclient/Plugins/Chiran/songbook.hta: line 18: syntax error near unexpected token `('
/Users/Myusername/Library/Application Support/com.turbine.lotroclient/Plugins/Chira'/songbook.hta: line 18: ` ReDim songArray(0), dirArray(0)

[Process completed]

Is there something I can do to fix this? or use a work around? or is it because the plugin was designed for Windows, and if so could it be modified to work for Mac? I'd really like to use this plugin, so any help to fix this problem would be appreciated.

I updated the link to point to new forums. I'm not sure if it's the same tutorial as before though, been a while. It's also good to check the wikis for some more material:
https://lotro-wiki.com/index.php/Plugins
http://www.lotrointerface.com/wiki/How_to_use_plugins

The latter has some unnecessary information for normal users though.

To be short, the key things are to place your plugin in the correct folder. Then use Turbine Plugin Manager or chat commands to load it. With Songbook there's an additional step where you have to use the additional utility program to make a catalog of your songs. This has to be done before loading the plugin. I recommend using songbook.exe (instead of songbook.hta).

Totally confused...

Alright, I'm brand-spanking-new to this, and I have no idea what I'm doing. The link in the description there no longer leads to any site (the old fourms are long-gone and don't help me) and these instructions mean nothing to me.

Update songbook list - new song

When adding a new song in your music folder, how to update the list in the plugin? Do you have to unload plugin and load again or?
I used the songbook.hta - no problem, it found all my songs, but I dont see the new one on the list in game. Relog works too, but ....
