New expanded name view for v.1.3, also showing draggable icons

Description
Busy Bee Tasks
version 1.3.3
by Bosko

Busy Bee Tasks is a plugin that shows all the available task quest items in a semi-transparent window. This can be useful for anyone interested in getting task-based achievements, or reputation.

Features:

- Items counts are tracked automatically in real-time
- Items are presented in a tree view categorized by:
- Zone and location
- Faction
- Item summary(v. 1.3)
- Items are color coded by:
- Level eligibility (too low, eligible, too-high)
- Count (none, not enough, enough or more)
- Item list can be filtered by:
- Count (all, greater than zero, enough for task completion)
- Reputation award (all, only with rep award)
- Level eligibility (all, only eligible)
- Flip through different views by clicking 'Next'
- Turn on draggable icons by clicking 'Icon' (v. 1.3) useful for mailing or moving items
- Count of total different items in the list is provided at the top
- Window can be resized (click on the bottom-right corner and drag) or moved moved (click anywhere else on the window background and drag)
- Window can be locked, keeping the window passive and disabling resize and move
- Level of transparency can be configured
- Fade in and out animations for mouse over events (v. 1.3)
- All plugin settings are saved automatically between sessions for each character

Command line usage:

/bzb show - Show the Busy Bee Tasks window
/bzb hide - Hide the Busy Bee Tasks window
/bzb toggle - Toggle the Busy Bee Tasks window visibility
/bzb N - Set window transparency to N (0 < N <= 1)
/bzb help - Help information
/bzb sort - Move all task items to the bottom of the bags
/bzb junk - List items with no quests and items with no rep award (v. 1.3.1)

Window size, location and item list filters can only be set through the UI.

Instalation steps:

Inside My Documents\The Lord of the Rings Online, open a folder called "Plugins".

If the "Plugins" folder does not exist, create one. If a Turbine Folder is not present inside of it, you need to download here and copy the Turbine folder inside the Plugins folder. To unpack 7z files I recommend Peazip portable.

Unpack the zip file contents inside the "Plugins" folder.

To load, in the game chat, type /plugins load BusyBee.

Version history:

version 1.3.3 (4/17/2011)

- Fixed Tinnudir tasks some more (removed lvl 35+ tasks)
- Fixed a bug with level up event not being processed correctly

version 1.3.1 (4/12/2011)

- Fixed Tinnudir tasks
- Added /bzb junk to list items with no existing tasks or items that do not yield rep award
- A few bug fixes

version 1.3 (4/10/2011)

- Added option to show a *draggable* item icon next to each item with count > 0
- Useful for organizing bags or mailing items to friends or alts
- Consolidated 'By Level' and 'By Name' views into one view with dynamic
cumulative level ranges
- Added fade-in and fade-out animation
- Lots of other refinements under the hood

version 1.2.2 (3/29/2011)

- Fixed the task list in Oatbarton, fixed rep reward for Hobbiton
- Added /bzb sort, places all the task items at the end of the bag slots
- Works well, but not refined enough to warant a UI button.
- Items themselves remain unsorted
version 1.2.1 (3/26/2011)
- Fixed the sorting algorithm for location view

version 1.2 (3/26/2011)
- Added fourth view, sorted by item name
- Added a window lock, keeping the window passive and disabling resize and move
- Added a filter to show items with enough count (Cnt > N)
- Busy Bee window stays behind other windows
- Made colors a bit more visible (depending on what's behind, there may always be a scene where they might be hard to read)
- Other less noticable improvements and tweaks
- /bb replaced with /bzb

version 1.1 (3/22/2011)
- Multiple display modes: by location, by faction, all items
- UI refinements
- Performance optimizations
- Overhaul of the code to make it more robust
- Bug fixes

version 1.0 (3/18/2011)

Awesome plugin, both really nice looking and useful.

Just one request: could you add the total number of tasks you can complete? Currently it's pretty hard to keep count when all the different areas are shown and might share the exact same tasks.

Really looking forward for improvements.

You should really package your .zip one more directory up and include installation instructions in the readme posted above. The .zip's files must go in the MyPlugins folder else the plugin won't work right. So your .zip should have the MyPlugins folder in it so that users simply uncompress directly into their Plugins folder.

Additionally, you shouldn't use "MyPlugins" at all; each author should use their own namespace so that there are no conflicts. As it stands, these is another plugin from another author that is using "MyPlugins", so you two are potentially in conflicting folders. You would be better to make a "BoskoPlugs" folder and change your plugin's namespace to use that to eleviate any potential plugin conflicts.

This plugin looks very promising. I will be interested to track its progress.

hrms...

Could you elaborate on this? This looks like a neat plugin, but I can't make it work. Where is this MyPlugins folder I need to use?

Thanks for all the suggestions. I have added instalation steps.

Next version 1.1 will allow grouping by faction and item type in addition to location grouping. There will be some other refinements to appearance. I will post it when I am fairly certain I have not broken anything -- should be soon.

I really like the way this is shaping up. Nice work Bosko.

I will admit that I was using another plugin that does much the same thing; but even in its early stages I will admit that I like your interface better.

A few suggestions for future versions, if you don't mind:
- I haven't checked 1.1.2 yet, but the grey and red fonts for items that you are too high or too low for are very hard to read on my screen; perhaps a different color that would be easier to read when the background opacity is lighter or over lighter/darker background (more of the red color maybe)
- A nice feature of a certain other plugin is that it registers the level of every character that loads the plugin on that server. So if I'm on my hunter and get a drop on a task item that I can't use, it shows me what characters can use that item so I know who to transfer it to.
- Another feature I use alot is the ability to type: /<pluginname> [LinkedItem] and it reports information about that task item linked. This allows me to shove some task items in my bank, then log in another character and "inspect" them via the plugin to determine what level range is applicable.

Excellent work and I look forward to watching this plugin grow and evolve!

In the "All Items" view can you make it show one row for each item; I've got the same item in there more than once and it is a little confusing... Perhaps, have it sorted by item instead:

Albino Skin 14/8
46-50 Thorin's Hall Misty Mountains Gloin's Camp
47-51 (None) Eregion Gwingris
47-51 Lossoth Forochel Suri-kyla
48-52 (None) Eregion Echad Dunann
49-53 Council of the North Angmar Gath Forthnir

This would probably be the view I would use the most if you could add that one

Looks like you're updating with most of my suggestions already... did you read my mind before you started working on this last version?

I look forward to checking it out once the file is approved.

Thanks for all the feedback. I have just uploaded a new version (1.2) with some significant new features.

Regarding DailyTasks:

I wrote this plugin because I wanted something a bit more visual than DailyTasks, something that will stay on the screen. Something that will give me information without me typing in commands.

DailyTasks is a great plugin, which is why it has been downloaded thousands of times. I recommend people check it out and see which one suits them best. My goal is not to reproduce all the functionality of DailyTasks. My goal is to find a neat way to give persistent view of tasks people want to track, without ever going into the command line. /bzb trigger exists, but I don't use it except to change opacity.

Some of my inspiration does come from DailyTasks, but the most credit for getting this plugin off the ground belongs to TheOneBag. I used that project as a starting point. Although by now, the only thing that remains from it is the window resize mechanism.

I really enjoy reading the feedback. Please keep it coming as you use the plugin. If something does not work quite right, or if something could be better, please let me know.

I really recommend version 1.2, it makes a big difference in usability.

The tasks in Hobbiton are giving Mathom Society rep, but the plugin lists it as (none). Just thought you'd like to know!

Great plugin, saved me much time!

I've one suggestion to make. Could you make a command that lists task items that you can no longer use on tasks? And maybe another one to list what you can't use now but will be able to use later on. Something like:

/bzb listuseless
/bzb listforlater

Thanks a lot!
