"i was getting that error too but only when i didnt create a shortcut and add the account name to the target path in the properties of the shortcut file. main reason i'm replying to you is to let you know that mine works and all my letters too are lowercase."

The thing is though that I did create the shortcut and add my username to the end of the Target path.

Unfortunately I may just have to give up on this plugin

This is the error I'm getting:

You said something about case-sensitivity in the Target field... does it perhaps matter that my LOTRO username is lowercase?

This version of the vbs script should tell you where it tries to save data.

not only did it show where it saved it also just simply works hehe. the songbookdata file was created this time. btw you were correct in my previous file only being the settings file it was saving and not the data one too. but it all works with this new .vbs file so thanks!

Oh, that sounds like the contents of SongbookSettings.plugindata. Are you sure there's also SongbookData.plugindata? If not, that would mean that the plugin can save there just fine but the vbs script cannot. So perhaps it's looking for that directory in the wrong place, but as to why... clueless so far .

Is the file empty then? Does it contain anything if you look at it in notepad?

For some reason or other, it cannot save the song database to the correct location. It should try to create the directory if it doesn't exist. However, you could check to make sure it exists. The place it tries to save data to is:
C:\Users\<windowsuser>\Documents\The Lord of the Rings Online\PluginData\<lotrouser>\AllServers\

Above applies for Vista and Windows 7. Windows XP is a bit different.

The database file there is called SongbookData.plugindata.

for whatever reason it doesn't work for me. i've created a shortcut for the songbook.vbs file and reneamed accordingly and then ran the file and it said "Generated songbook library. Found 327 abc files." But when i go into game and load it up I still get the default window with no songs

Please would you explain the vbs file and how to access it? I am not a programmer and I have read the readme file numerous times and tried several things but after several hours I still cannot figure out what to do to get the songbook up and running. Thank you.
This plugin requires a few extra steps since otherwise it wouldn't be possible at all. So, I hope you bear with me . When you unzip the package according to the instructions, the Songbook.vbs file should be in the plugin directory at c:\Users\<windowsuser>\Documents\The Lord of the Rings Online\Plugins\Chiran\ (With windows XP the path is a bit different).

And here's the instructions from a couple posts back.

Easiest way to run the script is:
1) Right click songbook.vbs and choose 'Create a shortcut'. It creates a shortcut file (.lnk). You can rename the file if you like.
2) Right click the created shorcut file, select Properties, click Target field and add a space and your Lotro username at the end. Username is what you use when you log in to Lotro. Plugins use the username as a directory name when saving your plugin settings. The target field should then read, for example: "C:\Users\Chiran\Desktop\songbook.vbs" Chiran Then click Ok.
3) You can then move the shortcut file where ever you like, for example to your desktop. Double clicking the shortcut will run the script. Run it whenever you have added or deleted abc files.
4) Done .

woot.

Got it to work with the win7 64bit file. Great plugin. No more typing songnames!

Only thing now on my wishlist is reading sub-directories, which I see is on your to-do list. Will be back soon

Thanks so much for your efforts.

if your on win7 64bit use this file instead
I have Win7 64-bit as well and the .vbs file from version 0.22 works. So, I'm not quite sure what might be wrong. It might be related to the case-sensitivity as someone else pointed out.

You can also add the home directory (path to the document directory, that is) as a second parameter and override any defaults if that helps.

I'm working on a version that supports subdirectories.
