The reason that the options are greyed out on the character selection page is that the plugin needs to be loaded and running for the manager to display the options dialog (the dialog is actually part of the plugin). So, it is normal for the options to only be available when your character is loaded and the plugin is loaded.

Unfortunately, the manager itself has some bugs and certain container controls will cause the plugin to crash when exiting if accessed from the manager - thus the settings do not save because the settings are saved on exit and the plugin never actually exits properly. This is why I do not use the options in the plugin manager with any of my plugins. Fortunately, TravelWindow supports using the options directly from the plugin, so that is the way to do it for this plugin - note, the bug is not in the plugin, rather in the manager - these bugs have been reported many, many times over the years, just not a high priority I guess. Although, if it were my plugin, I would disable the options in the manager to avoid this confusion.

No I am using the System icon "^", which by default is just to the right of the chat window. It brings up a long line of options, the top one being System, and then I click the Plugin Manager. I actually didn't know I could R-click the plugin's icon and also bring up the options menu.

Using the method you described worked fine. It's odd that using the pluigin manager doesn't work.
Yeah, read Garan's comments to me below on this. That's what finally worked for me.

To clarify, I'm talking about the Options you get when you right click on the suitcase icon. Is that where you're going for the Options?

I have the same problem. The options page is not saving the changes I make in the Options/General tab. Every time I log in my characters, I have to close the travel window, move the travel icon, move the opacity sliders. Also, none of the "hide" options are being saved.

Every time I log in, the options I had selected previously have to be reselected. For instance, the location of the suitcase never stays where I put it; I have to move it to my desired location each time. However, that's the least of my concerns.

The biggest issue I have is that I will disable certain travel locations, such as personal house because I don't have one, and I will sort the travel locations in my desired order. But each time I log back in, none of those options have remained, and I have to do it all over again. This has become so frustrating that I just gave up.

I looked thru the conversation in this thread, I've made sure the plugins folder is not "Read Only." I do see in the PlginData folder for my character, that it has bakup files for "TravelWindowIISettings.plugindata"

"TravelWindowIISettings.plugindata.bak"
"TravelWindowIISettings_backup4.plugindata"
"TravelWindowIISettings_backup5.plugindata
"TravelWindowIISettings_backup6.plugindata

"

Other than that, the plugin works as advertised.

You're Welcome. Glad it's sorted.

Now that he has a better idea where to look, Hyoss can decide whether to track down the crash or just remove the plugin manager option (I removed it from my plugins because it just keeps getting broken, kinda like wack-a-mole).

EDIT: Before you try the steps below, are the options in Travel Window in the Plugin Manager or are they a dialog in Travel Window? i.e. do you click something in Travel Window itself to bring up options or do you open the plugin manager, scroll to TravelWindow and then select the Options tab? I ask because using certain controls/methods with the built-in Options panel has been known to crash the client in the past and it wouldn't surprise me one bit if one or more of those bugs still exist (which is why none of my plugins use the Options in the Plugin Manager)

I then tested NOT making any changes to the plugin and logging out in order to switch characters, and it NEVER crashed. Again, I tested this multiple times on multiple characters.

So, there is something going on causing it to crash when I make changes, and as a result, the settings are never saved.

I have 3 plugins total: TravelWindowII, AltInventory, and TitanBar. I changed settings on the other 2 when I first installed and loaded them, and they have retained their settings; neither of them revert to default settings. And those files are also in the PluginData folder, so there might be something wrong with this particular plugin.

Can anyone help with this?

A number of things happen on logout, so the best thing to do first is to see whether there is any interaction with the other plugins causing this - I doubt AltInventory would cause this as it runs in a seperate apartment (to keep other plugins from causing it problems) but for testing, you should disable ALL plugins that automatically load, then close the client and restart fresh, log in and MANUALLY load JUST TravelWindowII - this can be done easily with the Plugin Manager, just use the main menu (button on the left of the toolbar), select System->Plugin Manager and then select Travel Window and click Load. Change some settings and try to manually unload TravelWindowII (this can be done by using the chat command "/plugins unload" (it will unload all plugins since you didn't give it a name but since TravelWindowII is the only plugin load it will be the only one unloaded)

If the plugin crashes on unload then the problem is definitively in TravelWindowII and only TravelWinbdowII and, well, you and Hyoss will have to work out what is up - it can be a registered event handler not being properly removed, a bug in the unload handler, a stack overflow (rare but possible), etc. and Hyoss would be the best to track it down.

If, on the other hand, the plugin does not crash, I would suggest repeating the test a couple of times and if it continues to behave well, then the problem is an interaction with something else, likely another plugin. Be absolutely sure that you are using the built-in plugin manager to load your plugins, not a plugin loader like Bootstrap (I believe you previously said you used the built in manager). The next step is a bit time consuming but should isolate the issue. First, restart the client (to be sure we have a clean slate) and manually load Titanbar, then manually load TravelWindowII, change settings and try to unload to see if you get a crash. If you can not reproduce the crash, then try restarting the client, and load them in the opposite order, TravelWindowII then TitanBar, make some changes and try unloading. Note that the order they are loaded may be significant if they are in the same Apartment. You can try the same with AltInventory and TravelWindowII and finally with all three to see if you can reliably reproduce the crash and determine which plugins are loaded when it happens and what order they were loaded in. If all of this does not reliably reproduce the crash, then the problem is being introduced by automatically loading the plugins or using logout to unload (not likely, but possible), so again perform the same tests, but only setting one or two to automatically load to determine which combination causes the issue.
