Settings not saving - game crashing

Whenever I make some changes to the options in-game (disabling certain travel skills that are enabled, sorting order, etc.) and then try to log out, the game crashes every single time. I tested this multiple times on multiple characters, and it crashed without fail. I then tested NOT making any changes to the plugin and logging out in order to switch characters, and it NEVER crashed. Again, I tested this multiple times on multiple characters.

So, there is something going on causing it to crash when I make changes, and as a result, the settings are never saved.

I have 3 plugins total: TravelWindowII, AltInventory, and TitanBar. I changed settings on the other 2 when I first installed and loaded them, and they have retained their settings; neither of them revert to default settings. And those files are also in the PluginData folder, so there might be something wrong with this particular plugin.

Can anyone help with this?

True, I mixed that up since ESO is bringing out U34 currently and that was so similar :-)

You mean in U34? I am aware, just did not have time to log in and get the skill IDs and skillnames.

Hyoss, thanks for working with me so far on trying to figure out why my settings are not sticking. I want to make sure you saw my last comment about my findings. Thanks again for your help.

Last time I just added the string someone posted (repLocations:AddSkill("Return to Tornhad", "0x70060EA8", "Tornhad (Rep)"), but as you wrote, I have no idea where that "0x70060EA8" came from

Hi, how do I add Nobottle?
Unless you feel confident you can edit a line of code in the plugin and find out the numeric ID of the travel skill I am afraid you cannot do it yourself.

The way SSG has setup the system there is no way to automatically detect new Travel skills after a patch and I need to patch the plugin with every new travel skill that becomes available.

So the content of the file looks fine. The only thing I can suggest now is to check if that file has the read-only flag set: https://adamtheautomator.com/how-to-...ile-read-only/

Other than that I will be looking at the source code of the plugin to check what might be causing that behaviour.
I looked at and tested several things. Here's what I'm finding.

First, whenever I make some changes to the options in-game (disabling certain travel skills that are enabled, sorting order) and then try to log out, the game crashes every single time. I tested this multiple times on multiple characters, and it crashed without fail. I then tested NOT making any changes to the plugin and logging out in order to switch characters, and it NEVER crashed. Again, I tested this multiple times on multiple characters.

So, there is something going on causing it to crash when I make changes, and maybe that's what's preventing it from being able to save the settings.

What's strange about all this is that I have 3 plugins total: TravelWindowII, AltInventory, and TitanBar. I changed settings on the other 2 when I first installed and loaded them, and they have retained their settings; neither of them revert to default settings. And those files are also in the PluginData folder, so my first instinct is to say it's not a folder issue but rather an issue with this particular plugin.

I did check whether the folder and the files were read only or not, and I'm not sure what's going on with that. I'm including a link below to a folder so you can see screenshots of the 3 options in the Read Only checkbox. First, it can be an empty checkbox. Next, it can have a dash in the box. And finally, it can have a checkmark in the box. I've never seen dashes before, but then again, this isn't something I do everyday.

When I first went to check this, they all had dashes. I don't know what that means. I know what it means if there is NO checkmark or if there IS a checkmark, but what does a dash mean?

I tried changing the parent folder (The Lord of the Rings Online) to be an empty checkbox and applied that setting to all the subfolders and files within, so that means it should have also changed the PluginData folder and all its files. However, anytime I refresh File Explorer, the dash comes back. Not a checkmark - a dash.

I don't know if that has anything to do with the issue, but again, it doesn't seem to be affecting the other two plugins I'm using. They are working with no issue.

Here's the link to the 3 screenshots of the Read Only checkbox: https://1drv.ms/u/s!AslcTuG0MXnRhJh0...hAGoQ?e=14Kklo

Here's a link to the file folder for one of the characters within the PluginData folder. I don't see a way to post screenshots that I took, so hopefully this will work. https://1drv.ms/u/s!AslcTuG0MXnRhJgj...7yvpA?e=ZK6BLT

Could you try and post the contents of one of these files or upload it somewhere? I would like to check if I see anything curious in there.

Other than those files being there but being marked as read-only/not having write permissions I cannot see a reason why it should not save those settings for you, so I would like to identify the bug and fix it if possible.

There is a PluginData folder at the following path location:

C:\Users\marsh\OneDrive\Documents\The Lord of the Rings Online\PluginData\mreid72\Crickhollow

Within the Crickhollow folder are separate folders for each of my characters that I've logged into after downloading and installing the plugin. Each of those folders contain a TravelWindowIISettings.plugindata file.

I close LOTRO by selecting Exit Game from the menu. The game does not crash when I exit.

Make sure the PluginData folder exists, and if not make sure you have write permissions to the parent folder:

Bootstrap is a plugin manager one can run inside the client; Plugin Compendium is running outside of it and is not what Garan meant/does not interact with plugins on unload.

The file is also there if one is not using Plugin Compendium BTW.

By any chance, how are you closing LOTRO? Using Alt+F4? Logging out? Is your game crashing on quit maybe? Because then it might not save setting either.

Thanks for the reply. I'm not sure what you mean by "permission to write into" the folder.

Regarding OneDrive and roaming profile, those do not apply.

I am not seeing that file you mention. Here are the only ones I see in the folder:

CHANGELOG.md
README.md
TravelWindowII.plugin
TravelWindowII.plugincompendium

As you can tell from that last file, I am using Plugin Compendium.
