Fustercluck: First of which version of my UI are you using ? the original/mini/uni ?

Open the skindefinition.xml in your notepad (DaimonUI\Setup\ or DaimonUI\Mini\ or DaimonUI\Universal, those are the three locations you can find skindefinition.xml for different versions).

Find a line that says <!-- dmnMinimap --> and delete all lines below that until the next comment marking (<!--something-->). You can double check of what you need to remove by opening DaimonUI\Setup\addons\dmnui_minimap.xml in your notepad, that's the whole code for my minimap.

To apply a minimap from another skin all you have to do is to copy paste your preferred minimap's code to mine, just make sure it's somewhere between the <opt></opt> tags. remember to check that the graphic files are in their intended locations, you can change the paths from the code if you must.

The Chat box is a known problem. The devs have designed the UI so that the chat box wont accidentally move away from the screen area. That's why if you move it too close of your screens borders it pops back a bit, it's a bit difficult to find a correct spot to make it stick as near the borders as possible so that it won't pop off from it's place when you relog.

Daimon,

So far I am enjoying this mod very much. I would prefer to use the default radar. I read through the prior posts and you state this is fairly easy, and to check the "customizing" in the readme's. I dont have anything outlining customization that I can find. I did go through your script and chose not to use your minimap, but that did nothing. I have tried removing various elements and of vourse that just leaves me with a grey checkerboard where the minimap is supposed to be. I tried to replace the tga files with the Zenix Radar kit and that failed as well.

Could you point me in the right direction on how to simply use the default minimap or replace it with the Zenix Radar, (which is my preference).

Also, I drag my chat box over the left side of the mod, but cant get it to stick. I have to reposition it each time. Any thought s on what I am not doing correctly.

Thanks.

sylvantina: you must mean 1366x resolution ? Download and install "ARS" addon for DaimonUI to enable it. I haven't supported 1024x resolution for quite some time (only had it because my secondary pc couldn't do more than that at the time, laptops meh ).

nice looking ui, but no where do i see you have support for the most common rez out there 1360/1368. Yet you have 1024? if your playing on a monitor with that rez you simply cannot be playing lotro.

You can't be playing lotro because quite simply, if you cant afford a cheap widescreen monitor then you cant afford a pc good enough to even run a game of this magnitude!

So I am asking does this support 1360?

great work on the ui

Irishnite: Well .. if you got Photoshop that's even better file you're looking for is \daimonui\setup\w1680.tga (depending what resolution you're using the numbers are different).

And yes you should be able to scale the "locked" main quickslot bar. Try using the in-game scalers, can't remember the name of the scaler, probably mainbar or something, that should do it (don't worry about overscaling the background picture, it will not overlap if you use high scaling value).

Ah, well that's awesome Though where would I find the right file to edit? I have downloaded gimp - it's a lot like photoshop which I have used before.

One other small question if you don't mind. The main toolbar down the bottom which is stuck in position - can that be upscaled like the other bars? (I use my tv as a monitor and the default size is a little so small to see)

Irishnite: Actually that is quite easily done, takes a couple of minutes if you know what you're doing a bit more if you don't. All you have to do is to have a drawing app that can handle TGA files (freeware: GIMP, Paint.Net with TGA plugins). Then you just modify the background file so it's blank black. You might need to work a bit on the alpha layers as they define what parts of the picture are seen transparent, there are plenty of guides to Google about how to do it.

Mainbar

hello Daimon,

Firstly, I love your interface! But just wondering if there is a way I can change the image of the mainbar? I'm currently using the seigewood - but I just want a black background.. is this at all possible to change?

Thank you,

Irish

cheers, redhawk.

ArrdenGarden: Hi and thanks. Yeah I know the trackers clip under the rings a bit (left+right mostly, up+down are pretty ok). I've been hoping they'd add us an option to change those tracker icons without a luck. Therefore I made a guide how to use the original minimap art with my UI, it's quite simple to do and you can even do it with my little setup script (check customizing from the readme's). I've also been planning to redo the minimap but we will see about that ..

Thanks for the reply. Thats good to know about the buffs and I'll probably just leave it as is. I was afraid of having them move over my skill bar, but I seperated the my toon's vitals to above my chat bar and my target's vitals to right, so the middle is opened up now. The only thing will be is when I have a lot of buffs, they will go into the chat bar and can't be moused over to see what they are. But I guess how often do you need to do that? Probably not much.

Edit: I did the stuff down below and it worked, so no need to waste time answering.

Concerning the null.tga stuff. Well I just looked it over and I see a little on how it works. It looks like the one I'm referring to is miniVitalsPlayer.tga and the same for oppenent.

But looking at how it works, I'll probably not want to change the opponent vitals since I would like to see when something is an elite and such.

I might just swith my own vitals though. So just to make sure I just need to switch this line: (found in skindef.xml in the \Skins\DaimonUI4\Mini folder)

<Mapping ArtAssetID="player_vitals_backdrop" FileName="Vitals\miniVitalsPlayer.tga" />

to the null.tga, and copy over the null.tga file from the main panels folder correct?

Thanks again.

MiniMap Issue

Greetings Daimon!
I've been using your MoM UI for about a year now and I absolutely love it! It's beautiful and functional which are two that don't often go hand in hand. I am, however, experiencing a slight problem with the minimap. The border of the ring overlays the wayfinding arrows and makes tracking quests/resources/fellows quite a nuisance. Is there a way to fix that or do I just have some personal settings set wrong. I tried downloading the ARS pack to see if that would help but am still having the same problem. Any help you could offer would be most appreciated.

Thanks,
Arrden Garden of Vilya

redhawk: welcome to middle-earth, redhawk.

At the moment messing with the buff bars is pretty nasty but it's doable to move them above the vitals. However the set back is that when you have many rows of buffs (I think Lotro shows 4 rows max, and you can't restrict that) they most likely will go over your vitals if they are moved above, I have done so in my main skin but decided to left them as they were in the other two skins as it's more practical if they are below the vitals.

They announced a few days ago that Lotro will get more flexible way to modify the UI in near future, until then I'm afraid we are stuck with what we have now.

You can basically change 95% of the UI transparent if you want. You just need to find the correct code that refers to the part of the UI you want to change transparent and swap the original graphic file with a modified graphic file that is transparent. You can find such file from /Panels/null.tga in DaimonUI. Which backgrounds do you mean ? The mainbar or the windows backgrounds ?

Great UI.

But I have a question. I play on a laptop so screen real estate is at a premium. I'm using the mini version and have my vitals and the target similar to your screen shot. But my vitals seem kinda high because of the buffs below it. I've moved over an extra toolar to the right to be able to lower the vitals for me and the target to give me a little more room.

So, can I have the buffs/debuffs show on top of the vitals so I can lower them even more?

And is there a way to just get rid of the blue background or make it transparent?

No biggie if not.

Thanks.

Edit: I just started playing so I don't know what happens at end game. But how many rows of buffs get shown typically? Is it just two rows or three? Knowing that might help as well.
