Thanks for the update.

Sadly, while I'd like to use both of your mods, I can only use one, so I'll pick the song book.

If I try to use both lotropad and songbook, lotro mod manager gets confused, and thinks they are the same thing. I went though this before, and it may or may not be something you have control over, and it is what it is.

Yes, the guy who made lotro mod manager crawled into a spider hole somewhere, very sad. However, he seems to be the only one who stepped up to at least 'try' to make a nice friendly installer tool. I saw one other, but there is as little activity on that as this one, and it's certainly not attractive.

So until someone steps up and makes a nice beast like the curse one I used to use with WoW, I guess I can only use one addon per developer.

Unless someone writes a better mod manager, of course.

I've zipped up the original and edited abc's along with the SongbookData.plugindata file and a screenie of what I did in Notepad++, and can send it to you if it'd help.

It now works perfectly and I'm thoroughly enjoying using Songbook
Ah yes, it's always possible that songs might contain some funky data. I've fixed the parsing as problems were encountered. It's also been tried with the whole Fat Lute database of 10500 songs or so, so it's pretty good already . But thanks for the report, and if you can send that example data (for example by email to chiran[at]theroadgoeson.org), it might help me with this.

Hello Chiran, first of all can I say that Songbook is fantastic!

I experienced difficulties getting it to parse the songbook data correctly, but I may have found a reason and workaround for it and wanted to share this with you.

I opened up SongbookData.plugindata in Notepad++ and found that in some songs it was doing something strange with the Id and Name fields.

Instead of getting
Code:
["Id"] ="1", ["Name"] ="A Toy"
for example, it was getting the likes of
Code:
["Id"] ="1T:A Toy M:6/8L:1/8Q:1/4=140K:G[B2G", ["Name"] ="|"
It wasn't doing this for every song, though, so I tried comparing one that didn't parse to one that did, and there was nothing visibly different until I viewed the end of line characters. The correctly-parsed file had both CR and LF at the end of lines, whereas the non-parsing file had CR but no LF. I then discovered that it was possible to use Notepad++ to do Edit > EOL Conversion > Windows format and get the correct line ending for the songbook to parse.

It's not something the average user would be able to fix on their own, and I only found it through trial and error. But I hope it gives you an idea what's happening in your code and lets you find a way to make the parsing step more successful, especially if you didn't know about it previously.

I've zipped up the original and edited abc's along with the SongbookData.plugindata file and a screenie of what I did in Notepad++, and can send it to you if it'd help.

It now works perfectly and I'm thoroughly enjoying using Songbook

Hallo.
I've tried the new one. Script error appears and when I click on build song library nothing happens.
Okay the error clearly causes something else to go wrong then, I have to see if I can do something about that. There also could be a way to give the script more rights so it can get the information it needs.

Ok thank you very much for your another fast answer!!!
Yes i have a french version on a french PC and french's setups^^ (but i change the décimal value "." and not "," if i remember)...no problem:
I must be patient so

Good continuation and the day it's work for french i'll be happy to test it.
You could try changing '.' and ',' back how they were originally? I made it so that you don't need to change them with Songbook, but that might then stop some other plugins from working...

Could you try with this version of the script? I'm not sure how to recover from the error since I don't know how to simulate it with my setup :-/. Click yes anyway to continue running the script. I can try to see if I can make it get past it gracefully.

Thanks for your answer Chiran;
I have no message error, and the others plugins (buffbars, vitals, the one bag etc...) work properly "fonctionne, en français "...
I just can move the window but i didn't see anything, like the songbook was completely "transparent" (no opacity?).
Another time excuse my english, not easy to explain my problem
Oh I might have an idea then.. It's these localization issues. I use a different opacity value in case the client is French or German. It's a bit tricky since it also depends on the Windows locale setting. So something goes wrong there. You are using French client and have French number format set in Windows? I'm afraid I don't know where it is in the French version of Windows, but in the English version it is in 'Region and Language'.

We can only hope that Turbine fixes this localization issue.. Currently plugin developers have to do all kinds of tricks to get past that.

Re: Re: no songs ingame

Ah, seems that the script stops at when it's trying to find the version of the Operating system and it tries to get rights for that. I'm not sure what might cause that, but maybe a very strict access policy or some very strict virus scanner. It needs that information to read Lotro user name so that it can save plugin data to the correct folder.

I believe what happens is that it cannot get your Lotro user name and it gives you a text box above the button to write it on. However, I just noticed that the text box has no label and also it accepts empty input so I have to fix that :-(. I guess I haven't tested that for a while. It probably wrote the plugin file to PluginData/AllServers/ while it should be PluginData/<lotrouser>/AllServers.

But in any case, it should work if you type your Lotro login name in the text box above the button.

Hallo, I am from Germany and I try to wrote you my problem.

If I start the songbook.hta file I got an error message that in the spript is an error in row 248. And that the expected service cannot be startet.

Now I can click yes or no and the window disapears. If I click on build song library it found my songs and show me the path.
But ingame there is an error message that no songs are found and that I have to run songbook.hta.

What can I do.

Many thanks for help

Just a silly question

At most of our concerts/events we predefine a setlist/playlist on beforehand, so people in our band know exactly what song we shall play next. It would be awesome to sort of have function so I could click on the song on beforehand and make a certain order of them.. maybe is me just beeing lazy. hehe.. But I think I would have better control, and people would now exactly what song would come next, and I could concentrate on introducing songs, and emoting

Just an idea, not a must have. I think the songbook is awesome as it is
Not silly . Implementing some sort of playlist is certainly one of the things on my todo list. I know many people would like it to have an automatic Jukebox mode as well. However, looks like that at least is impossible. But I'm sure there's something to be done, just haven't gotten that far yet heh.

One thing you could at least do is to make a specific subdirectory for the event, then copy over songs you plan to play and rename them sequentally, like 01-song1.abc and so on. That way you only can keep only that directory open in the plugin and have a clean sequential listing. Requires some manual preparation of course :-/. But you may be doing that already?
