This feature was originally slated for the now defunct version 2.12 but with the rewrite and removal of all non-inventory panels, this feature is now part of the basic design of version 3.0

There are no longer separate panels for Bags, Vault, Shared Storage, instead everything is displayed in one panel with the character selection list replaced by a storage selection list containing "ALL", "Shared Storage", character1 Vault, character1 bags, character2 vault, character2 bags, etc. So, you can quickly and easily find all instances of an item in all storages by selecting "ALL" and hovering over the entry (the main display is the total, the detail is a popup). To see which exact chest or bag an item stack is in, you have to select the appropriate storage and then hover over the item to see the break out by container but if all you want is the total or subtotal per storage that is shown on the "ALL" display. And of course, the display will be filterable and sortable the same as the old AltInventory was - in fact, other than the missing panel selection buttons, the interface looks pretty much the same but the "ALL" inventory selection will display all storage in one panel.

Are there any plans to allow searching all inventory spots for all characters? Rather than going to all characters and then searching bags, then vault, then shared, etc...how about a search all?

because of the Crashing i don't use Altinventory no more. Still missing now the Options to see the Standings and the Virtues of all Chars. I hope they will be available in one of your new Addons. Waiting for them

It's particularly great for reminding yourself when you run low on things like pots and travelling rations (Low and Crit thresholds) or for gatherers who know how many mats they need to gather and just want a reminder on screen when they collect enough (High threshold). I think it's a nice improvement over the old Item Tracking Window.

To those wondering what the status of AltInventory is:

Version 2.12 has been scrapped and will never see the light of day (except on my current game machine as it doesn't crash that client oddly enough).

AltInventory is being dismantled and turned into three separate plugins,

ItemTracker - replaces the item tracking functionality that broke two years ago and although I published a couple of fixes, it never really worked the way I wanted it to. ItemTracker on the other hand looks very much like my Wallet plugin but for Inventory items rather than currencies. It still has the ability to set thresholds with flashing alerts, etc., but it looks and acts much sleeker than the old version. (it even inspired me to add flashing alerts for the Wallet plugin to my never ending ToDo list).

AltViewer - a new plugin which will incorporate all of the non-item panels in a format similar to AltInventory but without any of the graphical fluff.

AltInventory ver 3.0 - the stripped down/streamlined version which will only deal with inventory/vault/storage items. I'm debating starting basically from scratch since a LOT has changed in the Lua implementation and many workarounds in the current version are no longer needed and just add overhead.

I do not have any estimate on time frame as this is a major change and will require many, many hours of testing even once it is done.

Was using this before Rohan and had to stop due to crashes, just re-enabled following the patch notes, but still crashes on log off for me

I tried updating (even completely eliminating all traces of past alt inventory information) and I'm still getting crashes. I hadn't been able to use it since RoR and had to just remove it from use. I'm still crashing, but removing this plugin fixes that problem. It's a shame, because I loved it.

I believe there are several issues causing crashes on logout. The fix probably fixed one of them, but another issue (or issues) still exist. Hopefully Turbine will fix this soon.
