Re: Ver 3.09.01

Is there a problem with 3.09.01? I just tried updating it with the LOTRO Plugin Compendium and got a popup saying "Unable to install Alt Inventory. Please try again later. (It is likely being updated on lotrointerface.) Do I just need to wait a bit, like the popup says?

Edit: Nevermind. When I tried to install it directly from lotrointerface, I got the message, "The latest version of this file is currently awaiting approval from a file admin." Sounds like I just need to be patient.

Ver 3.09.01

I released an interim release, 3.09.01, to fix the two greatest bugs in 3.09, the search/filter and display mode functionality that was not properly applying and required unloading/reloading the plugin to apply. Unloading/reloading was major hassle and I apologize for taking so long to release an update. Unfortunately, ver 3.10 will be delayed much longer than I had hoped as the zoom feature, the stretchmode API call to be precise, is proving much more difficult to integrate with the new Groups. There are still a number of outstanding bugs that will be fixed in 3.10 but I wanted to publish a fix for the search/filter and display mode bugs now as they really break the functionality of the plugin.

If there are any other major issues not related to the zoom feature I may publish another update prior to 3.10, but otherwise, this should be it prior to 3.10.

Known Bugs 3.09

There is a bug that prevents resizing undocked groups. I will have this fixed in 3.10
The search is not correctly applying. This will be fixed in 3.10
The display mode buttons (icon only, icon+text, text only) are not functioning correctly. This will be fixed in 3.10

Ver 3.09

Ver 3.09 is now available.

This version adds the ability to define Groups for organizing the inventory display. Each group can have multiple criteria that determines which items display in the group. Criteria include Item Custom Name (from crafted items/ LIs), Item Name (the generic name for the item), or Item Category.

To define a group, right click the header of the display list in the main inventory window and select "Add" or right click the header of an existing group and click "Edit". This opens the Group maintenance window. At the top of the window is the type of inventory you are displaying, either Bags, Vault, Shared Storage or the "All" display. Each type of inventory can have its own set of groups or, the Vault, Shared Storage or "All" types can be set to use the Bags groups. To add a group, simply select "New" from the group list. To edit a group, select the group you wish to change. You can type a name for the group and then add criteria. You can either type an item name in the text box and click Add, or click on a Category checkbox, or you can simply drag an item from an open inventory display into the criteria lists. Once you click the Save button at the bottom left of the window, the Group definition is updated and the inventory display will be updated. You can also change the order that groups are displayed by clicking the Move Up/Down buttons (new Groups are added at the bottom). You can also Dock/Undock a group or Expand/Collapse a group here or using the icons in the group header.

Undocked groups will display as a floating window that is always open when that inventory type is displayed. To save screen space, you can collapse a group or change the width of the group. Note, the height of the group is controlled by the number of items currently displayed in the group and will expand until it hits the bottom of the display. Undocked groups are generally best for displaying items by name so that only the defined items will show, which prevents the group from growing (unless you have multiple stacks of the same item name). To redock a group, simply click the dock icon in the title bar.

As there are many new features with the new Groups functionality, I will try to put together a video demonstrating how to define and display Groups.

Unfortunately, as noted in the version log, due to a conflict with the new Group windows, the Zoom feature had to be temporarily disabled in ver 3.09 but will be fixed and re-enabled in a future (hopefully soon) release. If you play on a high resolution and really need to use the Zoom feature, please do not install 3.09, wait for 3.10.

EDIT: It didn't make it into the version notes, but a simple version of the All (EI) display is in ver 3.09. This display will allow you to see the names of all of the equipped items on all known alts and you can type a part of an item name to filter only those items that match. The filter ignores both case and accents.

Thanks for the feedback.

What doesn't make sense is a Mannequin view of "All". You make a good point about searching. I have been toying with a list view sortable by character/slot or item name for an "All (EI)" display but it may not make it into the next version (due out Soon™) as it added a few unanticipated anomalies due to a design flaw/limitation introduced many, many years ago - I intend to fix the flaw, it will just take a bit of time to unravel.

Equipped Item Display

Love this - have been looking for this for a long time.
However, would love to be able to search in Equipped items. I know you say this makes no sense but many wearable items are Account Bound rather than Character Bound. I share my Jewelled Bell between characters and am always forgetting who has it. Same for my Gundabad toolkit.

Equipped Items have returned to AltInventory in Ver 3.08

There is a known bug when switching from zoom>1 to zoom=1. The Equipped Items wear mannequin will continue to be displayed at the zoomed size and location. To fix this in the current version, unload and reload the plugin (use "/plugins unload altinventory" and "/plugins load altinventory". Note, this is only an issue when returning to zoom=1 - if swapping from zoom=1 to zoom=2 or 4 it works correctly and when swapping between zoom=2 and zoom=4 (and vice-versa) it also works correctly. This will be fixed in 3.09

Thanks for your interest. Unfortunately, carry-alls are not exposed to Lua so there is no way to support them with a plugin.

Finally...

A bug that was reported a long, long, time ago in a middle earth far, far away has finally been addressed. Some of you may have noticed that ever since the VIP Town Services perks were added, inventory plugins were sometimes showing incorrect info. What was happening was that the Vault and Shared Storage information was being cached if you accessed town services and then logged out and logged in another character without closing the client. In that case, the Lua client thought that the currently logged in player's Vault was available and reported it as such, but the items in it were the prior character's Vault items so the plugin data got corrupted. If you happened to then visit a vault-keeper or use the town services again to check your vault, the items got corrected and the plugin would fix itself as long as you didn't logout and login yet another character. It took me a little while to determine what was going on, but when I reported it to SSG and posted an explanation for users as well as a workaround, they thought it could be exploited and deleted my forum thread and sent me a nasty-gram telling me not to repost it. Foolishly, I showed them that it was not exploitable (mostly due to two other long term bugs in the Lua client) but was a major pain for Lua authors. I say foolishly because when they thought it was an exploit they planned to fix it ASAP, but after telling them it wasn't actually an exploit, they downgraded it to the point that it didn't get fixed until the next year... I'll learn to keep my mouth shut. Maybe.

Anyway, I can confirm that update 33 does indeed address this issue. All users have to do is revisit their vault-keeper or use town services to access their vaults on each character and it will fix itself - unfortunately, that does mean logging in each character to visit their vaults before you can be sure it is totally fixed.

So, once they fix whatever happened to RK satchels, you can go back to trusting the vault displays in lua plugins.

This is working as intended since the name change can not be detected by Lua, the changed name is seen as a new character. Since AltInventory will automatically create a new inventory for the new name, all you have to do is visit your vault to get that data under the new name and then delete the old duplicate data by selecting the old name and clicking the skull button that appears. Note, you only delete the data for the old character name, this will also delete the old character vault data.

I noticed that when I changed the name of my character, the name-change wasn't reflected in the plugin. This issue persists regardless of logging out and back in, logging into the character, etc. Will there be a fix for this?
