Thanks for the info. I originally took down the level for each gambit from the Lorebook before F2P went live. It looks like a couple of gambits are available at earlier levels. I'll get it fixed in the next version. As for Maddening Strike... it used to be available at level 23.

Question Missing Gambit

Thank you for this awesome tool!
Ran into one issue - Maddening Strike Gambit is not appearing on the Shield bar for me. This is the 3-Icon shield gambit unlocked at lvl 16.
Otherwise so-far-so-good.
One thing I would like to see in the future though, is the ability to resize

Idk. It felt a bit distracting to me, but it's interesting and one of the few Warden plug-ins, and it's nicely made.

...\Deusdictum\Plugins\WardenEase\WEQuickslotWindo w.lua:78: attempt to index field 'WEmain' (a nil value)

Getting this when I click on any of the Gambit icons.

For reference I'm using Filterbag and Buffbars, both were loaded before Wardenease.

WardenEase 1st impression/ideas

I just finished downloading, installing, and trying out WardenEase.

First off, thanks for making something like this. I have been checking LOTRO Interface almost daily in hopes that someone would create something that would make the Warden class potentially easier to play.

My first impression (FI) is based on not having played my Warden for several months and only vaguely remembering the 3 & 4 level gambits I had earned at that point. Overall, I am very impressed and anxious to see how this plugin develops.

FI - Gambit Panels: Initially, I was clueless and somewhat overwhelmed when the icons popped up after loading the plugin. Without tooltips, I found myself having to go back to the Skills Panel to figure out which icon represented what gambit. I understand that tooltips have been suggested and that they would be a duplication, but if they were added, it would be a great help -- even if they only gave the most basic info similar to the short-hand descriptions used by many of the Warden Gambit Table posted on the web.

FI - Gambit Panel Icon order/grouping: Again, based on my initial experience and approaching the plugin as practically a Warden newbie. I wasn't sure if the icons in each panel were placed in any sort of sequence. Is there a pattern as to where a gambit icon falls on the bar from Left/Right (horizontal bar) or Up/Down (vertical bar)?

Suggestion/Idea: My biggest problem with playing the Warden (why I stopped a few months ago) was remembering the plethora of gambits and knowing what they did (Heal, HoT, DPS, DoT, Threat, ToT, Buff, Debuff, etc.)

Since much of the Warden's survivability seems to come in the form of stacking heals, buffs, damage, and threat gambits, are/could the gambit icons be laid out on the different bars according to what they do and how they stack? Or maybe instead of three bars (Spear, Shield, Taunt) how about bars for Heal, Damage, Threat, Protection with the stackable gambits in order?

If this is the case already, then it's my lack of knowledge as far as recognizing what the various icons represent that is the problem. <grin>

I suppose what I'm looking for is more of an in-game quick-reference that would help me utilize the gambits I have based on what I need. Over time, I'm sure that the more commonly used gambits are just memorized and they don't need to be referenced as much. But for learning the Warden, being able to know what a gambit does at a glance or by its position on a bar is invaluable.

If I'm soloing a single, high moral monster.. I want to burn it down with major DPS initially. If/when I start to drop in moral, then I want to switch over to some heals/leeches. If/when I find myself getting big hits on me, I want to pull out some of my protective gambits. Being able to see at a glance or with a click or two what gambits are available to me to perform the desired action (Heal, HoT, DPS, DoT, Threat, ToT, Buff, Debuff, etc.) is what I think would be most helpful to me as a new Warden player.

Hope these comments are somewhat helpful! I sure do appreciate the time/effort you take to develop the plugin in the first place!!

Tom

okies..then how about just some basic info...like DoT, HoT...stuff like that?

and i can just continue to hide the gambit panel behind the chat window so no worries there.

thanks for listening..this plugin is making me fall in love with my warden again!!

Would it be possible to get tooltips working on the spear/shield/fist bars?
Yes and no. Yes, I could add tooltips, but duplicating the game's tooltips for the gambits would mean I'd basically have to build them from scratch. While I can certainly add some information to a tooltip, at this point I do not want to attempt to include damage or buff numbers, as these could vary with stats, gear, level, legendary items, etc. Some of these we do not have access to through the API.

since with wardenease the gambit panel becomes superfluous...

can you add a toggle to turn it off?
I think the gambit panel is still necessary for the time being (assuming you mean the thing with 5 boxes showing the gambit you are currently building and not the Skills subtab in the Character window). The API doesn't give Lua access to the information in the gambit panel and it can be difficult or impossible to detect when skills are successfully executed. This means that WardenEase and the gambit panel can get "out-of-sync" and only seeing the gambit panel will let you know the true state of the current gambit.

Additionally, I am not aware of an option in Lua to suppress any UI elements except the vitals bar and the inventory bags.

and even better...use the gambit panels art assets on the WE main bar?
Well, I currently do not plan on getting rid of the gambit panel, so having two similar panels would be undesirable. However, I can tinker with making the main WE window line up well against the gambit panel.

oh and another idea....

since with wardenease the gambit panel becomes superfluous...

can you add a toggle to turn it off?

Digital Utopia's Palantir has a similar option for the vitals bar so it shoudl be possible...

and even better...use the gambit panels art assets on the WE main bar?

Ah glad to see that you are still developing this and have posted it. I thought that it might have been abandoned, but it seems like a very useful tool. Bravo sir.

Doh. Looks like I forgot to include some of the DragBar resource files. I have uploaded a "version" 0.2a to include the missing files. Or you can download the DragBar class from here.
