All the SkinDefinition File does when I open it is open in Internet Explorer as a Readme only document, I don't know what software is used to change it, or if I'm just doing something wrong.

Edit: I just opened it with Notepad instead, I assume that's how it was intended to be opened anyway?

Sorry i thought XML was opened with Notepad standard, but yeh that was the idea

Hope it worked!

To save Templedog some time i'll explain this one

Goto your skins folder in Documents/Lord Of The Rings Online/UI/Skins/Celtic , then open the Skindefinition file , find the OpponentEffectDisplay line with Cntrl+F and change the height value there, then simply save it and boot the game.

2. Bombadil411, the money and DP bars are something I hope to fix in the not too distant future - so hopefully real soon. With the buffs I think I've found the culprit so that should disappear soon also. If you're happy to try editing the skindef file yourself then the entry for "OpponentEffectDisplay" Height needs to be '180' and you should be good.

Power bar

OK Dude,
I ran the bach file and got a def file. Loged in and made celtic the skin. Most of it was not to bad, though I think that the vital icons are to big, but that's not the problem, the problem is that the power bar only shows up in the top of the power bar. Cant read the text at all.
Update, When I logged in yesterday everything was sweet. The whole UI was as it should be.
I really like this skin, now that it is working OK.
Thanks for the prompt replies

I'm having a strange problem with this skin. I can run the batch file no problem and create the skin definition file, but the skin doesn't show up in game as an option. I have no idea what could be wrong, the skin folder is in the same place as all my other skins and they work just fine.

I have it located in: D:\The Lord of the Rings Online\ui\skins

Thanks for the quick reply! I'd definetly be interested in that LUA, i just want to use your fantastic UI really, dont really like the portrait thing to begin with

What is causing it though? I'm willing to comprimise quite abit to make this work.

There is no xml deffinition file with this skin, therefor, it doesn't load.
That is true, and I should probably leave a default one in but ...

If you run setskin.bat it will create a skindefinition.xml file based on your needs, resolution, main bar type and whether you want player buffs displayed or not.

If your resolution isn't listed in the batch file run it anyway and then modify the ToolbarField settings as detailed in the description.

Enjoy !!

Help

Let's see how many probs we can address / fix in one post

1. Mandros (thx for the PM and screenie) and Barry068, I'm still looking into the issue you both describe. If you could paste the contents of your skindefinition file in a PM along with resolution settings it would be appreciated. Brain fade at my end, can you folks just make sure that you've selected the skin then exited and re-entered the game for the changes to stick

The other possibility is another UI element sitting over that part of the Opponent frame.

3. Sherm, basically no idea what's causing this, but I did manage to replicate the issue and have a workaround for you. It involves hiding your player vitals while you set the UI element sizes where you want them then unhiding the player vitals.

I do have a very basic LUA plugin that can handle the hiding / unhiding for you if your interested - other than that I have no idea how to fix this one short of disabling 3D portraits sorry.

Let me know if any of this helps

And hopefully ... Enjoy !!

issues

in general I really like the file. unfortunately is doesn't work to well on my machine. I am running a laptop with 1600x900 display, and i have the following problems.

Player vitals and opponent vitals do not match up. The portrait and health/mana meters are outside the boxes.

The hotbar button had red and blue dots in place of the store and system buttons.

Odd part is that a couple days ago I went in and made a minor change and it worked great for a day. What ever that change was, it changed again and now the ui is messed up again.

Good job though. I have been an admirer of the Tking/Drakah/Kuvasie uie every since eq1

Well i absolutely love this skin, its simply perfect in almost every way, its sleek but stylish and fits with the game. Thanks for making this available to us.

The one problem i have with it though is that my portrait keeps growing when i enter or leave a door/instance, for example the crafter's hall. This happens everytime i leave or enter a door so after a few times i have this massive portrait
I have it on the right resolution by using that brilliant batch program.

Any idea what could cause this? It's ruining the game for me atm.

And the NPC window is great, i wouldnt change it

I'm a UI skin noob I guess, didn't know about it but I did run it now and it works great. I do have 2 major beefs with your skin though; the bar that tells you the amount of gold and DP you have looks goofy and misconfigured, and any buffs on another player after the first row will not display the effect of the buff or debuff when you hover over them.

Deed tabs in 2.4.2 background is shifting when you hover over them... that is the only bug I have discovered.
LOL, sadly that's my artistically inept attempt at providing some sort of feedback when you rollover the tabs.

I'll keep working on them and hopefully improve them over time.

My toolbar shifts significantly to the right every time I log in with this skin active
Just to confirm, you've run the batch file to set the skin for your resolution ? And I will be AFK for the next couple of days so I'll try to help more with this one when I get back.

Any comments on the NPC chat background and how it looks would be welcome.

Enjoy !!
