This error indicates a corrupted DailyTasks_Settings.plugindata file. The fix is to delete the file (located under the PluginData folder) and let DT recreate it.
|
Ooooooooo That should be an easy fix. I'll try that. I wonder if this may have been caused by using the character on a different system and running DT and then having the old char data not match. Or maybe not...
Quote:
In this case, it can't even find the plugin, so it has nothing to do with the character level. Are you using Plugin Manager? If its not listed there, its not installed in the right place.
|
Again, an easy solution, I must not have it in the right directory, will double check.

My question with running multiple computers is whether files are being shares between them. Sharing the Plugins folder should be ok, but PluginData could have syncronization issues.
|
The files should not be shared betwixt systems, unless I was being cheeky and just copying the whole folder over and then not remembering I did that. Thanx for the awesome plugin and your input! Will try the fixes tonight and report back.
EDIT:
I had a SPACE in the folder Name, I had "My Plugins" vs "MyPlugins", (I am a real BlockHead) also deleting the plugin data folders solved the other issue.

I just got back into the game and updated your fabulous Daily Tasks Plugin and have run into a very odd issue. I have just installed DailyTasks_2.6.4 and I run it on 6 toons on mutliple systems and 3 of the six won't load. I run all 6 of the toon at the same time on 3 different computers here is a breakdown of what works and the error msgs I get. Dunno if there is a simple solution but here goes.
Comp #1
DT Copy#1 Lvl 41 Guardian-Won't load. I get this:
DailyTasks_Settings.plugindata:1: unexpected symbol
...ings
Online\Plugins\MyPlugins\DailyTasks\DT_Main.lua:22 : Unable to parse file!
Unable to load "dailytasks".
DT Copy#2 Lvl 75 Captain-Loads fine. :-) So I know it works and is not a plugin error, just something to do with my system.
Comp#2
DT Copy#3 Lvl 39 Guardian-Won't load. I get this:
Unable to resolve package "MyPlugins.DailyTasks.DT_Main".
Unable to load "dailytasks".
DT Copy#4 Lvl 39 Champion-Won't load. I get this:
Unable to resolve package "MyPlugins.DailyTasks.DT_Main".
Unable to load "dailytasks".
Comp#3
DT Copy#5 Lvl 75 Minstrel-Loads fine. :-)
DT Copy#6 Lvl 45 Hunter-Loads fine. :-)
Seems to have an issue on characters lower level than 45. Any ideas? Should I delete some temporary file and reload the plugin? Again I do not think it is a issue with a bug in the plugin just something squirrly on my system or something to do with the toons.
Thanx for a marvelous plugin that saves me so much trouble!

Any chance writing a batch file for zipping would solve the problem?

That's probably what its going to take, but I was hoping to avoid it.

Wrong, it won't be a trivial change. Currently, I select the files I want to zip in Windows Explorer and from the drop-down menu select "Sent to - zipped folder". If I select the enclosing folder, it will zip ALL the files, not just the desired ones.

Version 2.6.4
This update only affects level 60+ players. I got tired of the cluttered listings for Dunland and Great River tasks, so I added a couple of options to simplify them.
First in Dunland, while there are task boards at many locations, the only locations where the tasks can be completed are Galtrev and Forthbrond. So I added an option "/dt nc" that will suppress listing non-completion locations.
Then in Great River, all the locations have the same tasks, so its redundant to list all the locations for every task item. I added an option "/dt gr" that combines all those locations into a single "Great River" label.
Note that all options are saved by server name.

Perhaps I'm missing something (I haven't written a plugin), but perhaps you could create a new folder, select the files you want, hold down the Shift key, and drag them to the new folder. That would copy them to that folder. You could then right-click the new folder and select "Send To - zipped folder". After it's done, delete the new folder you had created. It would add a few steps, but presumably that would be easier than making code changes to accommodate a different file structure. Would that work?

It must be something with your install.

As an OPTION, it shouldn't create any problem for existing users. It would just add flexibility to the installer. It sounds to me like you just don't want to bother with the enhancement.

Let's set the record straight. Its not that I can't add the change at present, its because it will cause problems inbetween client versions. All versions of LPC client follow a single API, which I do not control other than adding or removing an entry. Lotro Interface does. If I include your plugin on that API feed, and an older LPC client tries to download it, it will plop out a directory that does not make sense to LOTRO. This is the confusion I'm talking about.
On a personal opinion side, consider your options. I've made a plugin that increases the popularity and accessability your your plugin. It requires minimal effort on your end. 95%+ of the plugin users are supported. You are not, despite multiple requests on these comment pages. As an addon author myself I know that changing the path of a zip file is a couple minute job at most. To me, it sounds like you don't even want to bother with being supported. You have a popular addon, and I'd like to see it included. Please reconsider.

Realistically, since so many users already have a version of LPC running on their PC/Mac that accept path to be one way, it is hard to introduce a "big" change to how the structure works Even if I did make a new version that took new path structure, since I cannot force the thousands of installs to upgrade their current version, it would inevitably lead to confusion or inappropriately installed plugins.
