Re: Client Crashing
I have spent about 2 hours testing all my plugins individually trying to narrow down the client crash issue. I can load any and all plugins manually and try to mount up and the client remains stable. If I use bootstrap to load ANY plugin and hit the "Refresh Plugins" button, then try to mount up, the lotro client crashes to desktop. I does not matter what type of plugin it is, or even if bootstrap is the only plugin, it will crash the lotro client. Below you said you would try to reproduce the error to see what might be going on. Were you able to reproduce it and where are we at with a fix if so? I would really like to stay with bootstrap, as it is by far the most intuitive plugin manager thus far. Just hoping for an update soon, and maybe a little bit of informational updating here on the forums as to your progress thus far. Thanks for all your time on the project.
BTW: I can still use bootstrap as long as I do not hit any of the refresh buttons. Sometimes this isn't always possible but using it to initially load plugins is still better than 10-15 /load plugin commands by hand. lol
In my testing it is the RELOAD Plugins that triggers the "mount crash" not "REFRESH". But yes, I can verify that this happens no matter what plugins you have loaded with Bootstrap. When you pull a mount the client crashes if you've at any point clicked the "Reload Plugins" button. I will continue to use Bootstrap, though, and not use that button. But I would really love to be able to use it as it is a very nice feature.

I have been having the crashing issue also. I have found that it happens anytime I used the reload plugins button. After that I mount up and the game crashes. This has happened when I enabled or disable tobii or huge bag. I also had it happen when I disabled Combat Analysis but I believe it was because I had Huge Bag enabled at the time.
When i don't have any bag plugins enabled I use the reload button as many times as I want with no issues.

How about adding an unload option for individual plugins and the /plugins unload for all of them?

Sadly, it's not technically possible to unload most plugins individually, and likewise, a plugin cannot unload itself entirely, which is why those features are not present in bootstrap. I'll probably add the unload feature for the few plugins that can be unloaded properly though, and a global unload, with a caveat.

Re: Client crash when mounting horse
Quote:
LOVE this mod but having a bit of a problem. I use TheHugeBag mod and also use mods for my mounts (Wheel, TonicBar). The issue is that if Bootstrap loads TheHugeBag, the client crashes everytime I mount a horse. This happens even if I mount any horse from my in-game Skills/Mounts panel. I posted a note on this site for the author of TheHugeBag hoping for an answer. I got a reply from another user saying he had the same issue and also used Bootstrap. He found a work-around by letting Bootstrap load all mods EXCEPT TheHugeBag. Then he loaded the TheHugeBag manually and had no crash issues. I tried this and it works every time...no crashes when I get on a mount.
My question is: Is there something in Boostrap that can be fixed to allow me to have it load the bag mod with no crashes when mounting a horse? NOt a bi deal to manually load one mod but I REALLY like the convenience of loading and managing all my mods from Bootstrap.
I'm having no other problems with this fantastic mod!

Odd issue, I'll try to reproduce that and see where that gets me. No idea whether or not I'll be able to work around that though, ultimately, all crashes are bugs in Turbine's Lua engine. Thanks for the report !

I just installed LotRO and this plugin, when trying to load it. BOOM! Error!

Did you install the Turbine folder yourself or did that come with another plugin ? Anyhow, Bootstrap does not need or use the Turbine folder, you can comment it out (rename it ";Turbine" or something)to check if bootstrap is loading correctly.

I've noticed some other plugins of mine that I'm pretty sure do not touch the inventory still nonetheless appear to cause random crashes. The only ones I use that don't are PluginManager and KragenBars.
I do want to mention that some of the plugins that do cause crashes due to inventory bug, like SortPack, will cause crash if you load it at all, even if you unload it. Maybe that's part of the problem, a previously enabled and then disabled (but apparently not disabling properly?) plugin might be causing the problem rather than Bootstrap itself. Then again I don't know what I'm talking about, this is just based on my own limited observations today.
Also disabling inventory-related features in-game doesn't seem to help. For example BuffBars will still cause crashes even if you disable the item slots.
I don't know if any of this will help, but it might help explain why Bootstrap SEEMS to be causing crashes even though it's likely not the direct problem.

You have my thanks for that
Right now, I don't believe Bootstrap causes crashes, but I'll keep an eye on things.

None of my plugins use the inventory. This leaves two possibilities :
- There are others, as of yet undetermined, bugs to the Lua engine that cause a game client crash.
- The crash you experienced is unrelated.

Re: Re: Re: Bootstrap don't work
Hiya,
Okie, the client crashed when only Bootstrap was loaded.
Did read this on latest Known Issues:
Quote:
LUA
•Plugins that call the inventory will cause the LOTRO client to crash. Disabling these plugins will let the client run normally.
|
No idea if you do that.
Take care,
Ubbe
