Great work! Exactly what i was looking for. Could maybe be improved to search via some regex.

And i missed the option that the message is actually multi line when you hit enter even though it appears to be single lined in the UI.

But very clean, intuitive, easy to setup - great! Thx for creating.

A feature that would permit a user to specify how long to not re-alert for the same alert would be great. Or perhaps a feature to not alert for the same one until a different alert has taken place might be easier to implement and more useful?

PS: This would also avoid emote spam, one friend read my alert patterns on Google+ and then had fun making alerter toss up multiple alerts on my screen. ;-)
Hi. Thanks for the feedback. That's an interesting idea, it should be fairly easy to add a "cooldown" attribute to each alert definition which would prevent the alert from firing until its cooldown expires.

Thanks for the comments.

To create an alert for Tells, load Alerter, then use /alerter setup to define an alert, on the setup window, select <NEW>, enter a label like "Tell", either enter a message like "You received a tell" or leave it blank for the alert to show the actual Tell text, enter a Duration (I use .75 for quick alerts), pick a color & font, set Interval to a value less than Duration to make it flash or set it as "0" for no flash and then check the checkbox labelled "Tell" (right side, second from bottom), leave Pattern blank and click Save. That will set an alert for all incomming tells.
Thank you so much i tried but never could ... haha nothing than getting some help

Nothing really hurting, but in case you prefer to know, i post it.

Thank you again

The idea is an aid for setting the group's Fellowship Maneuvers on the fly.

So a group member types in fellowship chat, "fm yggggb", or "fm bbbgg", or whatever, whenever.

Now Lotro Alerts would pop up a separate display for however long, preferably replacing the letters with the FM icons or similar.

The reason why Lotro Alerts isn't well suited for this purpose right now, is each user has to customize it, leaving room for error/failure. Also the current display is intrusive in the midst of fights.

If this is a capability you want to add (and haven't seen that thread), additional enhancements would be letting the user specify which FM position is theirs, and highlighting that one in the display; offering arrows (up red, down yellow, etc) for color blind users; resizing the display; maintaining a button the user could click to redisplay the existing set FM or display it always.

Thanks for your consideration!
I saw the original request on the Turbine forums and thought it was a good idea. It's a bit too specialized to fit in with the direction I was going with Lotro Alerts, but some of the Alerts code could be used as a good start. There are currently a number of bugs in the Party object that would prevent it from working reliably but that shouldn't stop someone from starting work on it. I currently have a couple other major projects on my todo list so I wouldn't be able to even consider tackling this for several weeks, possible a couple of months. If no one else steps up by then, I will certainly keep it in mind as I do believe it could be quite useful if done properly.
EDIT: Some dweeb named Garan just posted a solution to the Party bugs on the Turbine forums so that's no longer an issue... I really wish my left brain would tell my right brain what it's up to from time to time...

Thanks for all those neat and useful ideas. Those that know me in game know that I especially like your emote channel alert as I love to ninja wave (waving and then ducking into a building or zoning) at friends and kinnies

One interesting use has come up since people have started "cheating" at /roll by using quickslots with a colored emote to simulate a fake roll. By setting an alert on the emote channel with ".*rolled (.*):.*" you get an immediate warning that someone is trying to cheat. Of course, using the RaidRolls plugin will mean that the raid leader won't get fooled by the fake roll since it is in the wrong channel, but it's still good to see a nice big warning when someone tries something underhanded like this.

I was able to reproduce this bug with several plugins, not just this one, but I did a /refresh and then used a stable mount and got an immediate crash to desktop. It's not just the Chat object causing it though as I was able to get the same result with AltInventory which doesn't use the Chat object at all so this is going to require quite a bit more testing to determine exactly what is causing the crash - it may be related to something like the amount of memory in use or other factors. No matter what the cause, the more people that report it along with the conditions that they use to reproduce it, the quicker Turbine will be able to reproduce it and then eliminate it, so keep reporting each new set of circumstances to Turbine.

Some Alerts

I thought I'd share a few alerts I use, and perhaps others can make their suggestions too.

In Standard channel, "loot rule" will tell you when the rule is changed--something I easily overlook. It's also helped other leaders when I've noticed they'd mistakenly left it on Free For All when joining a group.

Speaking of overlooking things, I don't notice what I mine, so "You have acquired a .*Cracked Rhi Helvarch" on Standard provides me with an alert when I get one. (The .* is a wildcard that accepts the color code here.)

"Critical Success!" on Standard will flag those when you are crafting. I dislike crafting more than I need of something, and this lets me stop instead of cluttering bags/vault, or the extra step of vending the mats from extra crits.

"scored a .* with a .* on Yourname for %d,%d%d%d" in Combat channel will put up a message when you take a big hit, between 1,000 and 9,999 damage. This has been great to help for healers and my survival when that occurs--by hitting my self heal or a morale pot. "scored a .* with a .* on Yourname for %d%d,%d%d%d" would do hits over 10,000 and "scored a .* with a .* on Yourname for .*,%d%d%d" should do both (I have them separate for different colors).

On the Kinship channel, "has recruited .* into your kinship." alerts you when someone is recruited, so you won't miss welcoming them to your kin.

"Yourname." on the Emote channel will make sure you don't miss a wave.

What other creative/useful alerts have folks come up with?
