I'm using:
- Linux Mint 17.2
- OpenJDK Runtime Environment (IcedTea 2.6.4) (7u95-2.6.4-0ubuntu0.14.04.1)
- OpenJDK 64-Bit Server VM (build 24.95-b01, mixed mode)
- java version "1.7.0_95"
I can't get PluginCompendium (version 1.2) to work. No matter what plugin I try to install / upgrade, it says: "Unable to install XXX. Please try again later. (it is likely being updated on lotrointerface).
I don't see any error / warning messages on terminal, is there a way to turn on more reporting?

This is one of those yes and no situations.
Yes, the API for pluginompendium is working again.
No, the download information for some?many plugins is not correct (i.e. is failing).
I have more than 20 plugins I randomly use and monitor. Some update and some do not.
A good example is Combat Analysis -- it is highlighted to be updated, but generates the 403 error for: . . . download881
I know that this particular Plugin has been moved, reworked, renamed, etc. over time and was just recently updated as I got an email from lotrointerface about CA. I can download it directly from the app page, but not from the compendium.
The question is obviously -- where is this information maintained?
Is it the entry in the file CombatAnalysis.plugincompendium (which shows download881) or is there a lotrointerface permissions issue?
|
You are correct. There was a permission error. I uploaded a new version last nigt that is able to download to download w/o getting the 403 error. Please test that if you would. Thanks

I tried substituting that url in the configuration tab, and got the exact same message. This is frustrating! Any other ideas? I am not a tech person, so I struggle with these things.

The original data feed is now working once again. Please set it back to http://api.lotrointerace.com/fav/plugincompendium.xml

Re: An artifact of the change?
My guess is they are just doing maintenance or something. The RSS feed by that url doesn't appear to work anymore (perhaps dns isn't configured for the 'api.'? Try using this insead..

Problem while retrieving plugin listing

A 403 has many different possible causes, not least being simple access issues.

Re: Re: Error message on launch
Has this been fixed yet? I am still getting this issue. Or please direct me to the way forward past this.

Re: LPC on Yosemite
@Magill re. yosemite
This is actually a stupid bug/restriction that only relates to the java stub/wrapper .app.
If you right click the .app package and show contents, then navigate to:
Contents > Resources > Java
you can double click the .jar file in there and it will run fine on Java 1.8 on Yosemite.

LPC on Yosemite
Upgraded to Yosemite OSX 10.10
This (I believe) wipes old Java installations.
Installed the latest Java Platform, Standard Edition (Java SE) 8 directly from Oracle. (SDK and Runtime.)
java -version
java version "1.8.0_25"
Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.8.0_25-b17)
Java HotSpot(TM) 64-Bit Server VM (build 25.25-b02, mixed mode)
LPC responds with -- requires Legacy Java SE 6 runtime.
All of this is "normal."
It is possible to "fall back" to Java 6, however that is problematic as it is basically "unsecure."
(See: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5559)
Any chance of upgrading LPC to Java 7 or preferrably Java 8?
(The Java 6 download is here: http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1572)

LPC and newer Macs.
I'm running on a 27 inch 2011 iMac - OSX - 10.9.4
$ java -version
java version "1.7.0_13"
Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.7.0_13-b20)
Java HotSpot(TM) 64-Bit Server VM (build 23.7-b01, mixed mode)
Note that Oracle identifies this as Java Version 7 Update 60.
And have not had any problems.
Note that Apple no longer supports or supplies Java.
You have to install java from java.com
Click "Do I have Java" Click "Do I have Java" again
See the Mac FAQ for details.

The mac I used to test this was very old. If I can get my hands on a newer one I'll take a look at it. Is there any insight you can give me into what isn't working? Does it say anything in particular?
Thanks for reporting.
