It appears in the Session Play "At the Stone of Erech", it is part of Region 2, you can even see a little bit of the area on terrain maps to the south of Kingstead/Helm's Deep. It is not the same blackroot vale from Region 3, it is Second Age Blackroot Vale. There is a city there called "Morthond", that doesn't exist in Third Age Blackroot Vale.

By the way, are you also able to track the second age Blackroot Vale terrain map which is connected to the south of Kingstead in region 2? I would really like to see the location of that old city on that map.
I don't publish or discuss anything that isn't on the live servers as that has a way of irking SSG. So Beta, even open Beta, stuff is off limits.

I'm not aware of any second age Blackroot Vale terrain in region 2. All of the Blackroot Vale and even the Paths of the Dead are in region 3. Could you be more specific about the city in question? Is it something just seen on the horizon (in which case it probably doesn't exist in the actual terrain) or is it in an instance?

Can you search for a potential Region 5? There have been speculation that it could be Northern Mirkwood due to some hints dropped by SSG. If that's true... I would love to see the terrain map of it... It's probably only possible to see on beta right now.
I can honestly say that I have not yet seen any terrain from a region 5 in Beta or live.

Thanks. It will be a couple of weeks before I have time to update them.

As to a standalone version, while it is theoretically possible, it would take a lot of work and there are too many legal issues (SSG owns the images and extracting them for use in a third party app would be both a EULA violation and copyright infringement).

Turbine used to have a dynamic map published via the Google map API. When they ceased publishing it, I requested permission to use the images for a web based map (also using the Google API) but Turbine refused.

Version 1.17 is just a bug fix for the broken Search function.

Version 1.16 is now available with the changes for U20 as well as the correctly cropped pre-zoomed tiles for Mordor.

Maybe that can only occur in Full Screen mode...
While processing the images for the U20 update I finally realized why you were probably running into a CtD with Mordor, particularly at zoom level 8. It is indeed related to the Turbine/SSG memory issue regarding not releasing images but was made worse by improper cropping of the zoom level 4 tiles for Mordor (the images were larger than they needed to be) which contributed to some crashes (zoom level 8 uses the level 4 tiles but scales them dynamically showing 4 times as many tiles at once which is why the crashes happened at zoom level 8).

The tiles will be reprocessed and considerably smaller with the next update so some of the CtD issue will be abated - I can't fix the underlying issue, only Turbine/SSG can fix the memory issue in their image handling but it will help most users. I can't give an accurate estimated time for publishing since I still have to gather default data for MoorMap and TerrainMap but hopefully in the next week or so.

im working on hi-rez images, just need couple more days, i dont use any scripts, so all work is screen capture and manual merge, composition and check.

i cant offer 1:1 scale because of bandwidth and winGDI32/InternetBrowsers/ fileformat support but individual regions will be down-scaled to about 8K resolution and whole LOTRO world to about 12K resolution [25% resolution of original scale]

Hi, thanks for the comment.

Unfortunately, Quest and Deed info are not exposed to Lua so there is no practical way to add quest tracking. Some quest locations, NPCs and items that can be added as static annotations do sometimes get added (they show as POIs, NPCs or quest rings) if they are found to be significant enough (the criteria is quite arbitrary depending on my mood as I capture annotation data in the course of adventuring...)

I don't have any plans to add custom annotations to TerrainMap but MoorMap does allow users to add custom annotations so perhaps you would find that useful. MoorMap also supports Overlays which could be used by enterprising users to develop their own quest and deed maps - TerrainMap can not support Overlays efficiently.
