Hey Garan, I was wondering if there is a way to help you update MoorMap for War of the Three Peaks?

Re: MoorMap not Loading

Love this plugin!!!

Unfortunately, as of 9/11 it will not load using Plugin Compendium I get the error message below.

"Problem while installing MoorMap
Invalid archive: open/read error. It is encrypted and a wrong password was provided?

If your archive is an exotic one, it is possible that SevenZipSharp has no signature for its format and thus decided it is TAR by mistake."

This is the only plugin with the issue. Tried removing and re-adding , each time I get the same error message.

Any help to resolve the issue would be very much appreciated
Hi,

Sorry to hear you are having difficulty. Unfortunately, this does not seem to be a problem with the MoorMap zip file but rather SevenZipSharp. It may be that a specific version of SevenZipSharp is causing the issue as it has recently been reported with other zip files that open and unzip just fine with other implementations of zip decompression. I do not use SevenZipSharp but another user that does use SevenZipSharp reported the same error with another plugin and found that using ccleaner and rebooting cleared up the problem on his system. If that does not work for you, I would suggest searching for assistance with SevenZipSharp and large zip files (both MoorMap and TerrainMap are fairly large zips, at least as far as plugins go), trying an older version of SevenZipSharp (the most recent version may have a bug), using another zip package such as 7-zip (https://www.7-zip.org/download.html) or downloading the zip file and manually extracting it to your Documents\Lord of the Rings Online\Plugins folder.

to answer the questions here are the answers:

- I use an EN client and play on a Laurelin server
- during testing I was on the map of Bree-land, more precisely the city of Bree in the Tree-farrow crafting hall and in the plugin I had a map of Lone-lands displayed which should not be a problem
-After request, I am attaching screenhots in which they are displayed: required message chat after clicking on the localization icon in the MoorMap plugin (icon / loc) screenshot of my plugin settings

the picture with the desired chat is ScreenShot_2020-08-14_181825_0 the 2 more pictures are as I have the plugin set
The issue is that you are in an interior location that is physically mapped to a part of the world that is outside the bounds of any parchment map. World coordinates from interior locations are not valid. Leave the crafting hall and location info will work.

FWIW, I have been attempting to map all of the interior locations to their entrance/exit coordinates in the real world but that has turned into a massive task and may never be completed. Unfortunately, that is the only way to deal with interiors.

Yep, and those with programmable keyboards can even automate this. Bind the /loc command to a built-in quickslot via the /shortcut command and then set your keyboard to activate their chosen quickslot every few seconds. This will automatically update the position as you run along. There are two catches, first the cursor needs to be in a non-entry field part of the screen, otherwise the /loc command will go to the entry field. Second, you need a way to start and stop the keyboard macro but that can be handled by most programmable keyboards. Makes the map/waypoint features much more useful. You can even automatically leave breadcrumbs by adding the Alt key to the macro

Update MoorMap ver 1.43

Thanks for updating, installed and works great.

New update to Waypoint now version 1.7
I could not duplicate vecny.samotar error.

However I did learn something new. Open MoorMap or TerrainMap (best to resize/smaller) leave map open and using (alias/loc within Map), shortcut to (alias/loc) or Waypoint clicking on arrow(alias/loc) move, change direction and keep clicking the (alias/loc) and you.ll see a "live view" of your location updated as you walk, run or ride. in the past I usually just closed map and opened when I need to to see new position. The map can be resized by left click along right edge.

thanks for updating the plugin but it looks like the edit you made doesn't work.
before these problems occurred after pressing the waypoint button (alias: / loc) my position was shown and at the same time it was written to the chat and there was one map I had displayed.
now the position will only be listed in the chat but will not show my position on the plugin map. I tried it with the new function "Respond to / loc when minimized" turned on and also with this function turned off with the same result.
between the individual trials, I always turned off the game and then turned it on so that the settings were written down

based on a previous discussion about adding important points to the Berry Deed map, I'm sending you chest coordinates for a series of quests from
NPC Bingo Boffin:
Quest: The Last Treasure chest is located on the coordinates: 34.0S, 40.7W
Quest: Goose and Gander chest is located on the coordinates: 34.7S, 35.5W
Quest: The End Now? 2 containers for the quest are located on the coordinates: 34.0S, 40.7W, ie on the left side of the entrance to the pub

if you consider it important, add it to the Berry Deed map database.

note:
in the quest The Last Treasure after manual creation point of interest and subsequent search using the module search plugin lets you know this point of interest is located on the map of Bree-land although it is a map of lone-lands

Thanks for the plugin, coupled with your Terrain Map great stuff.
MoorMap and TerrainMap will be updated soon for this. Unfortunately due to recent weather I have no power or internet (currently posting on a local library computer) so it may be a few days before I can post the updates.

Overlays are actually incredibly simple to create, just a little hard to share but that is due to limitations of the Lua API. That said, there has been a "how-to" video in the works. OK, it's been "in the works" for about 8 years now - Overlays were introduce in 2012 - I just never seem to find the time to record and edit it. I did recently finish re-recording part of it covering custom icons and a basic Overlay for ore nodes, I just need to find the time (and motivation) to edit it a bit and then I can finally publish it.

However, as mentioned several times now, I do not actively play LotRO anymore so anything LotRO related is very low priority. You shouldn't expect any major changes other than bug fixes, new maps and new annotations when they are released by SSG. Anything else only gets worked on when I am not busy with RL or other hobbies (of which I have many) so LotRO (and thus plugins) does not get much of my attention any more. My plugins are not abandoned but they are mostly in a maintenance mode with very little new development.
Thank you for the explanation and I hope that in the future you will find time for deeper adjustments not only to maintain what you are doing now, because your map plugins are excellent, it would be a shame not to use the full potential of your map plugins. Thank you once again for taking the time to answer me and answer my probably stupid questions

so i misunderstood overlay maintenence.
I thought that I could create a database in which I could then enter data using the custom annotations maintenance tool, but it is actually just an image store, or maybe I was wrong. according to the text in Readme.txt I have to create a screen map which I then have to edit and save the modified map in the plugin and then load it in the game in the overlay maintenance

for a less skilled user, it's quite complicated, maybe it would help to create a video tutorial on how to do it as a tool as to how to do it.

I think that due to the complexity of the overlay maintenance procedure, most users use only custom annotations maintenance and do not use custom annotations maintenance at all.

it would like to work out the overlay maintenance in the way I mentioned, ie the possibility to create a database in the overlay with the addition of a window like Berry's Deed maps, because now it is quite difficult to search among the saved points in custom annotations maintenance. such a database would work in the way that a database would be created in the overlay maintenence to which individual points on the map would be added using custom annotations maintenance. a window like Berry's Deed maps would make it easy to navigate between saved points. then such a database could be shared and possibly sent to you in PM so that the important points according to your opinion can be included in Berry's Deed maps which is actually the default database

Data driven overlays are not yet implemented other than the built-in Berry's Deed maps. I only mentioned them to indicate that I had been working on generalizing the mechanism used to display Berry's Deed maps but it is no where near complete. Currently, only single image overlays are implemented. Since I no longer play LotRO, data driven overlays are still on my ToDo list, but they are a very low priority.

As you noted, while Annotations and Overlays are similar, they serve different purposes. Annotations represent individual points on the map. Overlays are intended to show more complex images that cover more than one point, that is, general areas for slayer deeds, paths to locations, even diagrams of strategies for instances. They are meant to be images that cover the entire map but are transparent so that the map shows through the Overlay. That way, one image can represent lots of information with very little overhead. For instance, if you wanted to indicate where to find copper ore nodes in Breelands, you can capture custom annotations for every ore node you see as you travel the landscape but eventually you will have several hundred custom annotations and it will begin to affect performance. Instead, you can take a screenshot of the custom annotations, then using a paint program, you can create a single transparent image that indicates the areas with greatest concentration and save that as an overlay (simple instructions on creating a transparent overlay are in the readme.txt file). You can then remove all of the custom annotations and show just the one image which is much more efficient and will not affect performance. That is the difference between Annotations and Overlays.

Note, while recording a demonstration of the ore node example described above I came across a bug in the ore node tier filter which was introduced back in version 1.39 and will be addressed in the next update.
so i misunderstood overlay maintenence.
