The random-selected mount just for you!

Description
Welcome to Horsey!

Not sure which mount to choose? Don't like playing favorites? Then let Horsey! select a mount for you!

Once you've installed Horsey! (see below), you'll notice a new Horse icon on your screen. Place it anywhere you like, it will be your main interface with Horsey. When not active, the Horsey icon will fade out, becoming unobtrusive.

To begin, you'll need to right-click on the Horsey icon - that will toggle your Stable up. Select and drop the mounts you wish to randomly choose from onto the Stable bar. Once you're done, right-click the Horsey icon again to hide the Stable.

The number of slots the Stable may have is expandable - simply click on the little arrow to choose your size. To clear a slot, hold Shift and right-click on the slot you wish to clear. When the "lock" icon is locked, mounts cannot be cleared from the Stable - nor can the icon be moved on the screen. To clear mounts or reposition the icon, unlock the Stable first.

To select a mount, simply click on the Horsey icon. This will pop up your Horsey window, with your randomly selected mount! Once you've clicked on the mount icon in the Horsey window, the window will disappear.

Enjoy the ride!

Bonus!
Horsey! also comes with four more plugins: Horsey for Pets!, Horsey for Other!, Horsey2!, and Horsey3!

Horsey for Pets! is great for selecting a random pet when you like. Horsey for Other!, Horsey2!, and Horsey3! can be used for any collection of actions you'd like!

In truth, Horsey! can randomly select from any skill. The primary reason I've included the different versions of the plugin is so that each may be open at once, giving you three different options. Functionally, they all work identically, but each pulls from it's own Stable. For fun, try travel skills (Where to? Who knows!) or even attacks. Why not randomly choose your next attack?

To install, simply drop the 'rushl' folder into your Plugins directory.

Credit goes to Frosty for the Wrapper code - that stuff is great. Also, the Stable quickslot code is via Turbine's CombatQuickSlots.

Version 3.2 Changes:
  • Each Horsey! plugin now correctly defaults to the "unlocked" state. If you still have an issue with locking, simply open the stable, lock the stable, then unlock it. This will reset any lock issues.

Version 3.1 Changes:
  • Version 3.1 now incorporates Dhor's Patch by D.H1cks. I'd like to thank D.H1cks for the wonderful updates, which includes:
    • The ability to have up to 10 rows of 30 columns - for a total of 300 slots!
    • Increased compatibility.
    • UI hides with F12.
    • The ability to lock the selection panel to avoid accidental deletion.
    • All those features are now present in each version of Horsey! (Horsey for Pets!, Horsey for Other!, etc.)
  • The Horsey for Pets! and Horsey for Other! bonus plugins have returned! They are included in addition to Horsey2 and Horsey3, for a total of 5 different Horsey! containers. Each container can hold up to 300 slots, for a total of 1500 slots!

Version 2.1 Changes:
  • Horsey! once again functions with the new update!
  • New method for handling deleting or moving items within the Stable! You can drag and drop icons around, or simply drop an icon outside the Stable to remove it!
  • Alternate versions of Horsey (formerly "Horsey4Pets" and "Horsey4Other") have been renamed to hopefully simplify future developments. They are now known as "Horsey2" and "Horsey3", respectively. They will preserve their former Wrapper Icons, but both Stables will need to be restocked. (Note that the base Horsey! WILL preserve your former Stable!)

Version 2.0 Changes:
  • Horsey! is no longer dependent on the Turbine directories - it's now standalone!
  • The pop-up Horsey! window now saves it's location.
  • Stable size doubled to 30 slots.
  • Stable now includes a soft green background to increase visibility.
  • Opacity of the main icon when not in use has been increased somewhat.

Happy Horsing!

Must test today! This is exactly what I wanted (as in randomly selected). I am working on something a bit different for mounts, but this is more like what I wanted I think.

Thanks!

Question. Is there a way to make the Horsey! window that pops up retain it's location on the screen? Each time I click on the icon for a new horse, it pops back up on the middle-left of the screen, regardless of where I moved it before.

At the moment it's hard-coded to it's location. I'll start looking at ways for the window to stay where you put it!

I don't really understand the code fully (trying to learn more through trial and error LOL) but I noticed this in another plugin that seems to save the window position. Not sure if it's even applicable though:

Code:
if ( X ~= settings.positionX or Y ~= settings.positionY ) then

	settings.positionX = X;
	settings.positionY = Y;
	SaveSettings();

end

This does not work for me. I right click on the horse icon and nothing happens.

more slots

Great plugin, but is there a way to get more than 15 slots? That's not enough for all the mounts in game.

Hello,

Fantastic little plugin, here. Thank you for sharing and great work! Quick question: is there a way to bind any of this to a key? Typically, I would put my favorite mount on my quickslots and bind it to the letter X so that I can just hit X to mount/dismount. Can the same be done with this plugin?

Thanks,
Volox

Do you think you could change this plugin where the mount window doesnt popup, instead when you click the random mount button you mount a random mount?

Sadly, no. We've not been given any access to key bindings yet.

Also, sadly not that I'm aware of. The "wrapper" (the icon which stays visible) can only call the pop-up box with a random mount shortcut. There is no way for one bit of code to call and execute a shortcut - that can only be done via a player click.

If I were to put the mount icon directly on the screen, then the only way to randomize it would be to randomly change the icon at a set duration (say, every 30 seconds, or every minute). That's no good, as it would mean the script would be continuously generating random numbers, and changing the display. Also, it would mean that you wouldn't get a new mount each time. You'd only get a new mount if you waited for it to change.

While the second method is doable, it's not ideal. It would be doing alot more, all the time, not just when you want a mount. I figured adding a second click was a good tradeoff.

Besides, you'd lose the ability to quickly generate a new mount if you don't feel like using the one that's up. You'd either have to wait for it to change, or use another mount shortcut from your bar. As it is now, you can simply click on the "wrapper" icon again, and generate as many random mounts as you like until you hit one you want.

If we ever had the ability to execute a shortcut from within a script, I'd love to modify that. However, I don't think that will happen, given the ability to abuse a feature like that (say, to automate combat).

Not working with New Bullroarer Build

Horsey does not seem to be working with the new Bullroarer build. Reporets that it is "unable to perform the requested operation".

Any way to lock this down once it's dragged where we want it? Half the time I try to click it, I actually end up sliding it a little instead.
