Description
Introduction

Deed Tracker is designed to help you keep track of your completed deeds. (Or, if you're like me, which deeds you haven't done yet.)

Unlike the in-game Deed Log, Deed Tracker will show you every deed for every tab on every page, whether you've started it or not. No more wondering if an area has hidden deeds! Deeds are presented in a hierarchical tree, and a built-in search bar makes finding a specific deed very fast.

Each time you complete something, Deed Tracker checks to see if it was a deed. If it was, it checks it off for you!

Deed Tracker provides a quick way to see where you can find more LOTRO Points and Virtue XP, and gives progress at the tab, page, and overall level.

Ever complete multiple deeds at once and get frustrated that the game only remembers the last deed you completed? The Completion Window tracks them as long as you want, provides a button to send your completion to a chat channel of your choice, and you can produce a short summary.

Want a way to see which deeds your other characters have completed? Deed Tracker lets you see Deed Tracker status for each of your characters on that server with a handy character selection dropdown.

Due to limitations in the LOTRO scripting interface, Deed Tracker cannot tell which deeds you have already completed. Don't let that stop you, though! By default, when you complete a deed (for example, Slayer of Bree-land), Deed Tracker will automatically mark all prerequisite deeds complete. This works when you manually check deeds off, too! Alternatively, you can use the LOTRO Companion to export your character data from LOTRO. Click here for a step-by-step guide.

Language support:
  • Automatic deed-completion detection is supported for English, French, and German.
  • Deed names, lore, and objectives are available in English, French, and German.
  • The Deed Tracker UI is mostly translated for German.
  • The Deed Tracker UI has not yet been translated for French. (If you are a fluent French speaker and would like to help, please let me know!)

Notes:
  • See a description of all the features at http://deedtracker.lifebeyondtheshire.com/
  • Unlike the in-game Deed Log, Deed Tracker cannot tell how far along you are on a deed. Deed Tracker is meant to be a companion to the in-game Deed Log, to serve as an easy way to guide your deeding.
  • There are numerous, identically-named deeds in LOTRO (for instance: warg-slayer). When you complete one of these, Deed Tracker will try to determine which one it was. If it cannot, it will display a window asking you to select the correct one.
  • Currently only English is supported.

Installation and Startup

To install:
  • First, make sure you have the "Turbine Classes and Examples" installed from https://www.lotrointerface.com/downloads/info1012-TurbineClassesandExamples.html. (If you do, you will see a folder called Documents/The Lord of the Rings Online/Plugins/Turbine.) (If you have not previously installed any plugins, you will have to first create the Plugins folder.)
  • Next, unzip the archive. You will get a folder called "CubePlugins". Move this folder into your Documents/The Lord of the Rings Online/Plugins folder.
  • Or if you prefer, you may use Plugin Compendium to do the installation.

To load the plugin, use the game's built-in Plugin Manager. This can be found in the "^" menu, at the bottom of the screen. Click the icon, then choose "System" and then "Plugin Manager". (As a shortcut, you can also type "/plugins manager" in your chat window.

When the Plugin Manager opens, find Deed Tracker in the list on the left side. Click "Load" to load the plugin. If you would like the plugin to load automatically each time you login, choose your character's name in the "Automatically Load For" pulldown menu.

Known Issues
  • When "Hide completed deeds" is on, when there are two categories in a row, the first category is treated as empty and hidden incorrectly.
  • When "Hide completed deeds" is on, when a tab doesn't have any eligible deeds (see Allegiances for a character < 110), the progress bar is blue.
  • Deed Tracker does not currently know which landscape region each instance "belongs" to, so if you complete a landscape deed while in an instance, the disambiguation window can't highlight the most likely one.

Re: Re: How can I remove a character from the plugin?

Quote:
Great question! I haven't deleted a character in a long time, so until now I have not thought about to handle this.

If you are comfortable editing text files, then you can open up the file Documents\The Lord of the Rings Online\PluginData\<account name>\<server name>\AllCharacters\DeedTracker_CharData.plugindat a. There you will see a list of characters in semi-random order like this:
Code:
[":CHARACTERS"] =
{
  ["4"] = "Character4",
  ["1"] = "Character1",
  ["2"] = "Character2",
  ["3"] = "Character3"
},
To manually remove a character you can:
  • Back up the DeedTracker_CharData.plugindata file, just in case;
  • Delete the line corresponding to your deleted character;
  • Currently it causes problems if there is a gap in the numbers. If the number on the left (the index) was not the highest number, adjust them. In this case, if I deleted line ["2"], I would change ["3"] to ["2"] and ["4"] to ["3"].

I'll think about ways to make this better going forward, but in the meantime, feel free to ask if you have any additional questions!
Thank you - I will definitely be able to do it this way. And I feel much more comfortable knowing what I have to do instead of hampering with the plugins' files with no clue

Question How can I remove a character from the plugin?

I had set the plugin to auto-load for all my chars. Today I deleted a low level vault char, but it still shows up in the plugin. How can I remove it?

I haven't gotten to Far Anórien yet with my main, so I based their entries in Deed Tracker on the LOTRO wiki, which said "Although there are 2 options for the end, the quest can be abandoned after the first completion and taken again to allow the other ending, awarding the player both titles."

However, I agree that it shouldn't be counted against you if you didn't do this.

Once I introduce the "mutually exclusive" concept for these, I can probably do it for the server transfer titles too.

That would be very nice. I can't look at Gondor page where on my main only 1 deed is uncompleted and I can't do anything with that.
There is no way to do it later (I just checked) and most likely the way while doing it described at wiki is not intended...

Deed Tracker isn't doing it correctly, then. The Legendary Server Deeds should only show up and count if Legendary Server is checked. I'll look into that! (In the meantime, as a quick test, if you would check and then uncheck the Legendary Server checkbox, that will ensure that the value is not in some strange state.)
Yes, I tested that and that doesn't help, checking that option just don't do anything with this section.

OK, titles from world consolidation are indeed in obsolete section and don't count toward completions. Of course, if we could only check 1 of them that would be cool, but that's minor.
However in Far Anorien - treating with scoundrels - it is possible to check both whereas in game we can only complete 1 of them (we have to choose and it's not obsolete). We should be able to check only 1 of them and other not count for completion ideally.

Thank you for your great list of bugs and suggestions! I will look into each of these as time permits.

A few specific ones I can address today:

By design, none of the "Not Actively Available" deeds count toward overall deed completion # or %. If any do, please let me know which ones!

We should be able to check only 1 of them and other not count for completion ideally. I seem to remember something similar in North Ithilien or the wastes maybe but I don't see it now. Maybe that wasn't in your plugin at all but if I find it when checking another toon I'll let you know.

You should only see Legendary Deeds if you have checked the "This is a Legendary Server" box in the options. If you see any when that box is not checked, please let me know which ones!

I can see whole section Legendary Server Deeds in C/R/E and it counts for completions (legendary is not checked in options).
I'd like to be able to not count these at all though (and likely other players who don't participate on legendary servers).

There is a Hide completed deeds option (which I use a lot), which shows uncompleted deeds (plus deeds completed since you changed to the current page). [A secondary benefit from this option is it reduces how many things have to be shown, so reduces the time it takes to switch to a page.]

All good Thx

I wondered if it would be useful to add a filter option to show completed deeds which would help with the manual exercise to get the plugin up-to-date and another to show uncompleted going forward?

Bugs and thoughts from marmi
Thank you for your great list of bugs and suggestions! I will look into each of these as time permits.

I think checking one should make all of them as completed somehow. Or maybe it should affect numbers/bars on top. So that we are not misled we are lacking something there.

Also I'd like an option to not count deeds available only on legendary servers (not showing them in bars is best possibility I think?)

Small bug spotted: Tender of Beasts in Vales of Anduin should be under it's advanced version but it's not.
I also think that Mirkwood landing and The siege of Mirkwood should be auto checked if any of deed above them is checked if that's possible (since we get these 2 in Mirkwood introduction and we can't go further without doing intro there).
Another thing is about deeds that exclude one another.
For example Treating with Scoundrels - Distraction/Ransom Paid - we have to choose one of them. Server title from world consolidation time (like: of Riddermark and so on) - we have to choose 1 from 30, can't get more than 1.
I think checking one should make all of them as completed somehow. Or maybe it should affect numbers/bars on top. So that we are not misled we are lacking something there.
Allegiances of Middle-earth in Gorgoroth require all allegiances (4x30=120 deeds) done in reputation tab, so if that's possible to auto complete it would be great
Also I think deeds of Gorgoroth require deeds of all 5 regions there and it should auto complete all of them.
Weathering the storm deed is not obsolete any more, they reintroduced it a while ago...
Saviour of Eriador deed should auto complete many other deeds (requires all deeds in 5 instances). Saviour of Khazad-Dum and Lothlorien works properly...
Where Death Lies in Wait deed in Thikil-Gundu - you sure it actually exist? Only info I could find was about it's existence in beta, but not in live game. Dead ends in Glimmerdeep - I couldn't find anything about that deed also no one knew about it when I asked in world chat. Maybe it's same case as in Thikil, but if you know anything about it please let me know!
Also I'd like an option to not count deeds available only on legendary servers (not showing them in bars is best possibility I think?).
Once I decide to complete more characters which has completed less deeds I likely find more things that could be improved
BTW. I've lost connection somehow (my Internet was working all the time) after at least 2 hours of completing deeds on my 2nd main (so to say). Fortunately I did not lost what I entered, so thank you very much your plugin saves our progress all the time!

Re: deed tracker :o(

Quote:
just installed deed tracker via compendium. Loads okay, I manually recorded a completed deed for my first character, fine. Switched to my second character and did the same thing and it looked okay and I can view my first character okay. However, when I reloaded my second character the completed deed has not been recorded. I tried the same procedure but no luck....any ideas. Also, I can't view my second character's deeds from my first character...any ideas.
Thank you for such a detailed explanation of your problem! I have confirmed that I introduced a bug in v1.2.1 where characters that Deed Tracker didn't already know about aren't registered properly.

I am testing a fix and will release it soon.
