RTPlugin extra functionalities

Description
This plugin is meant to make the finding and sharing of Roving Threat locations easier. Locations are different each day and per server, they change at the usual 3AM servertime reset time.

Fuctionality:
- A map for each region with markers at each possible location for the Roving Threats, toggle red if there is a RT there.
- Coordinates are shown when hovering over a location.
- Locations are saved between alting on one server.
- Possibility to send the locations you have marked to chat channels.
- Option to 'Receive data': if someone else send their marked locations, they will automatically be added to your map.
- Toggle button to put anywhere on the screen to quickly hide/show the map.
- Locking of a map to avoid receiving wrong locations or accidentally changing them
- Clearing/activating all of one map's locations
- Clicking the green dot will show your approximate location on the map.
- Ctrl+clicking a location will send it to the group as the next target.
- Alt+clicking a location will use a Waypoint command.

Installation:
Unzip the folder in your Plugins folder. This plugin does not depend on other plugins.

Usage:
Either use "/plugins load RTPlugin" to load the plugin, or load it via the Plugin Manager ("/plugins manager").

You will get a small toggle button to put anywhere on your screen, to show and hide the main window. Furthermore, you can use "/rtplugin" to show and hide the main window.

In the main window, pick the area in which you are looking for the Roving Threats, and find the locations on the map. Hovering over the button will give you exact coordinates, clicking them will switch them from red to white and back, red for when there is a Roving Threat. Note that Roving Threats can walk around close to the coordinates.

To send the locations of a given map to other players, select the appropriate channel, and in case of a Tell, type in a target, and click the Send button. If anyone receiving the message has the 'Receive data' checkbox activated, the coordinates will be added to their map (Note, this will not clear already marked locations, so you can search a map together).

You can lock a map to avoid accidentally changing it by clicking the lock next to the close button, or by using the menu when right-clicking a map.

When a new day starts, press the Daily Reset button to clear the locations (since the locations change every day) of all maps (this requires maps being unlocked). To clear or activate all locations on one map, there is a menu when right-clicking one map.

For group leaders: you can ctrl+click the next location to send a message to the fellowship, raid, kinship, ... saying "Next RT is at <coords>.". Alt+click will use the Waypoint command to show the direction of the next coordinates. Clicking a green dot will put a marker on the map where you are (this will only refresh if you again click a green dot).

Although I have not encountered a Roving Threat that was not on the locations of these maps, it is possible that some locations are not yet marked. Should you encounter such location, I'll be happy to add the location.

One thing I have noticed is the Icon at some point disappears. I'm not really sure when this happens but I can say that I still can bring up the plugin by using the command in the chat bar.

Yes, the icon will currently disappear upon using the escape button (standard behaviour for the main window that I wrongly copied for the icon). This will be fixed in a next version, for now you can still use the chat command /rtp or /rtplugin to open the main window.

For my own purposes, I added the Evendim, North Downs, and Southern Mirkwood regions. Might save you some time. Patch is here.

Thanks, I was going to get around to it, but have been busy last weeks I'll merge it with some other minor changes I made tomorrow. I hope the bar with different maps didn't get too full

I just added the locations that are specified in the lotro-wiki. They may not be complete at this point, since they are based on Bullroarer. (And to avoid confusing people, you may not want to release a new version until Update 16.2 goes live).

The English and German titles fit OK, but you're going to have to figure something out for the French ones. Maybe use a pulldown menu like the main map in the game.

Some ideas for features:
  • A "You are here" marker for the map. (You could add a GPS button to the map, with an alias underneath it, such as "/me is at ;loc"; then parse the resulting chat message to get the user's current location.) I find myself constantly opening/closing the main map to compare to the plugin map. This feature would obviate that necessity.
  • Ability to click on an individual map point, to announce to the raid a message like "Next mob: 12.5N 10.5W" (Not everyone has the plugin.)
  • Ability to resize the map with SetStretchMode(). (I generally would like it to be smaller.)

I'm working on it right now, with all coordinates that are currently known on BR. First thing I'm fixing is the tab issue, since it seems RTs will be coming in more and more regions. I'll prob have a shorter tab for every region, and widen it for the current region.

The "You are here" marker should be pretty ok to add in (though I'm kinda low on space on my lower bar, I may make it a small button, like the lock button :P).

For the clicking a specific marker: I'd like to keep the left-click functionality for toggling the RT locations, which means it'd be a bad thing to also put it as a chat-message sender, and as far as I know, that functionality would automatically be added when putting a shortcut in? Or am I mistaken there? Perhaps leave the message functionality for locked maps?

The stretching of the maps, ugh, it was already beyond me to get the current maps the size I wanted, not sure how well I'd fare with resizing :P (or how well the bar would do). Seems like the hardest part.

Well that's all up to you.

By the way, I think the gift-giver's brand image (0x4115C888) would work well for your icon.

Another nice touch would be to put quest icons (0x41005E4F) on the map where the quest-givers are.

I added some features:
  • If you Ctrl+click on a map location, it executes the command "/ra All ride to <coords>".
  • If you Alt+click on a map location, it executes the command "/way target <coords>" and hides the window, for easy integration with Lunarwtr's excellent Waypoint plugin.

Modified source files are here. You may use them (or not) as you see fit.

I also noticed that the 83.7S, 45.0W point on the Central Gondor map needs to be changed to 83.5S, 44.2W as per the wiki (and my own experience).

Thank you very much, I had no idea things like that would be so easy

I'm currently away, but I will definitely release a new version including these features. I will probably change the ctrl+click to use the send data you entered below yourself (in case you are in a fellowship, or just riding around with kinship or something). I'm also working on the "click to see your own location on the map", had to do some tweaking in order to get the coordinate functions right.

The one coordinate that needs changing: will do, I think I've seen that RT location exactly once, so I hadn't been able to verify.

Just for my planning: I will definitely release a version as 16.2 goes live, but possibly not all the features will be in yet (that will depend on my time). But I'll be working on getting a full version with all features.

Ugh. With as often as the game is crashing lately, the plugin really needs to save its data more often than it does. I would suggest saving every time the user marks a location.

Another point correction: In Central Gondor, 81.0S, 41.3W should be 80.8S, 40.8W per the wiki.

Thanks for the update.

You might want to add German and French translations for the "Next RT is at <coords>" message.

You forgot the "-" signs on the last map coordinate for Eastern Gondor (in MapData.lua). As a result, one of the points doesn't appear on the map.
