I did manage to find a way around the filled spaces in the inventory with some file magic (moving the original .tga in and changing the reference in the skindefinition.xml). I like some of the universal changes you've made and I don't like some. I'll have to decide if I want to use this skin, use the old Durin's Folk again, try to alter this skin to get what I want, or try to mesh some of the updates in this pack into the old Durin's Folk skin.
Have fun ^^

I got a chance to play a little with the ui, and there were a few panels with backgrounds from the blue version (quest giving, character), not sure it that's intentional.
Original LM Durin's Folk did NOT had a background for npc quest giver panel neither for character panel.
The default Lotro backgrounds were then displayed ingame by the client.
I made a dedicated background for it, so yes, this was intentional

Quote:
What I'm pretty sure is not intentional is the mount health/dismount panel. It has a small chunk of the default dismount button over it, and consequently the Durin's Folk button isn't changing when the mouse is clicked on it or hovered over it. Anyways, just trying to give you feedback and alert you to any problems you may not know about.
Thanks for the feedback, but this is also intentional.
The reason is I prefer the JRR skins which are based on universal toolbars share the same custom panel codes.
This allows users to switch from a JRR skin to another one without having to logout then login back to avoid upside down panels.
This means the custom button for mount vital/dismount could not be kept in the JRR edition... or should have been applied onto all the skins of the pack.

Anyways, you've put a lot of good work into this, so good job and keep up the good work.
Thank you

Ohhhhhhh...

I think I misunderstood the general premise of this pack then. I thought it was purely for updating old skins, but you apparently also like to edit them for various reasons.

Re: Awesome job

@ InvisibleBob0

Hi and thanks for the feedback

Quote:
During my pursuing I also noticed a couple of glitches/faults/problems/something that I want to bring to your attention. The first (and greater) problem is about the inventory bags. The spaces in between the inventory slots look like they do in the blue Durin's Folk instead of being black like they're supposed to.
The JRR skins are not intended to be a perfect copy of the original releases. I freely revisit them, depending my feelings and some technical needs.
In the revisited edition of Durins Folk, on which one is based the JRR edition, the spaces between slots were invisible. I turned it filled for several minor reasons :
It saves a bit weight on the picture file (simple JPG file instead of a much louder TGA file).
It helps to stack the bags.
I used to use plenty bag when I had display issues with panel borders (now fixed).

Quote:
The second is that the Legendary Item advancement panel bars have no border. It looks like they don't in some of the other skins either, so it's probably a universal thing, but I kind of miss the border that the original Durin's Folk had around them (looked like stone).
I'm not sure I correctly understood the question
The former stony background is no more usable since this panel has become resize-able, with F2P update or a bit later.
Reproduce it with the new pictures set would be a hard work (many small pieces), and I'm not sure it would look nice due to the floating elements,
and last but not least, it would add a consequent extra weight into the JRR pack, which is already beyond the limit accepted on lotrointerface ! (40 mb).
Cairenn (the administrator) is ok with this untill now, but I don't want to push the excess too far ^^
As you can see on many JRR skins, many pictures are shared between skins (in the "JRR CORE" folder), in order to save as weight as possible.
For example : Durin's Folk Revisited was 48 Mo, the JRR edition is only 11.5 Mo despite the numerous panels added.

Awesome job

So I just installed 4.2, and I'm loving the Durin's Folk Black addition, so great job on your work. I use it on all my dwarves, so I'm happy they can have an updated UI. I flipped through a few of the panels, and I liked a lot of what I saw. The skirmish trait panel has a picture in the background now, the artifacts below the character portraits are gone, and the texture in the background of the bottom panel accurately reflects the new button that was added down there (for the sixth inventory bag).

During my pursuing I also noticed a couple of glitches/faults/problems/something that I want to bring to your attention. The first (and greater) problem is about the inventory bags. The spaces in between the inventory slots look like they do in the blue Durin's Folk instead of being black like they're supposed to. The second is that the Legendary Item advancement panel bars have no border. It looks like they don't in some of the other skins either, so it's probably a universal thing, but I kind of miss the border that the original Durin's Folk had around them (looked like stone).

Anyways, all in all I love the work you're doing. I'll be using that skin for my dwarves, and experiment with the other skins for my other characters. I tried to be specific with my problem descriptions, but it's not always easy. I hope you can decipher what I mean and can whichever one(s) are unintentional.

Great job and keep up the good work.

@ zarden

I'll have a deeper look on this skin when I'll have some spare time.
I agree it looks interesting, but, honestly, I don't think I'll update it, or at least not as its original form, because I guess everything except the panel borders, title bars and a few buttons, this skin would require to be rebuilt from zero, due to the almost complete renewing of the lotro panels since 2007, especially concerning the toolbars
JRR already requires more time than I would spend on it
At best, I think I could mix it with another up to date skin, maybe the JRR edition of Delving Hills...

@ Laire

Hi and thanks for the feedback.

Firstly: I never expected to see my drawing in a LOTRO UI O.o (the Spirit of Elfwood one). Flattering xD
Do you mean the character panel background picture ? I think this is the only picture I added to this skin in particular. (I mean not shared with any other JRR skin)
Whatever, don't hesitate to tell me if you want to see any credit added into the list, just mention which picture(s) is/are concerned, and the nickname to credit, with eventually a web page link to associate with your name.
For several other JRR skins panel backgrounds, I must confess I sometimes grabbed pictures on google via the picture search engine, without having any reference of the author's name or origin of the drawing

Quote:
Secondly: Thank you for doing this! The skin I was using was abandoned by its creator with RoR, so I downloaded this pack and I love it.
I suppose it is Eclipse UI.
And if you're talking about Daimon UI, it should be maintained by Liftedplaned, it's just a matter of patience for a new release ^^

But, there is a nasty bug that seems to cross over all skins. The cosmetic preview panel does not work Even setting the UI setting to 'none' does not fix it without a log out. Hopefully that can be figured out soon, because frankly put, that is my main reason for having a user created UI xD
I did not understood the part "Even setting the UI setting to 'none' does not fix it without a log out."

The dressroom from JRR doesn't supports resolution below 768 height.
When you're playing in this resolution, the dressroom should work, at the condition you play in fullscreen.
When the game lacks of height, the character becomes invisible in the dressroom, this seems to be your issue.
You can eventually replace it (in the skindefinition.xml file) with another one more adapted with your resolution. But you'll have to repeat this operation on every skin you want to ally it, and this, after every JRR update

To get the AH and dressroom in windowed mode, I have no easy tip to advice you, except playing in full screen. (you can toggle fullscreen mode by pressing ALT+ Enter keys)
Deleting the whole AH code + its background image single line code should be the easier way, if you want to keep playing in windowed mode, and it wouldn't cause any issue with skin.
The map size isn't adjustable if I remember right my few tests.

I made an account just so I could post here.

Also, I play on a laptop with a pretty small screen, 1366x768. It meets minimum requirements, but I also play in windowed mode, which cuts it down to like, 1350x720 or something. I am not sure of the exact numbers, but the toolbar at the bottom takes up a decent amount of pixel height. For this most part this is no problem... there is only one panel where this is rather problematic: the auction house panel. When it pops up, I can see the top, but I cannot see the bottom where 'search' and where you make a bid is. If I move it to see the bottom, I cannot click 'x' to leave it and have to press 'esc'; more annoyingly, I cannot *move it back down*. Closing the AH panel via escape does not reset it, either; I have to log out in order to reset the AH panel and access my 'bids' and 'post' tabs, if I want to go to them.

My question is, is there any way that I can make this smaller without ruining the UI? I do not mind if I have to get rid of all AH code (I found it easily enough in the lua document), but I want to make sure it won't break everything if I do so. And, I'd figure I'd ask if there was a simple fix while keeping it, like scaling it down via percentages or something... I would do the same with the map if you can scale it down via a percentage.

Thank you in advance.

Thanks! And a request...

Awesome! Thank you for bringing these UI's back to life. Great Job.

I have a request to see yet another UI revisited. Any chance you could bring back the Fenir Wood UI? This was a great UI. I love the wood ingrain look. It also had many different layouts for placement of macros.

Thanks again for the great interfaces. I use each one on different chars.

@ Glorrond

Hi,

you already asked me this question on June 1st, and my answer hasn't changed : I won't "fix" this.

The bags have intentionally no borders, making them stackable to save a lot of space on the screen.

If you consider this disappointing, not handy or ugly, you can use a bags replacement plugin, as HugeBag, it is amazingly convenient and good looking.

Same thing for the map, it is a choice.
The windowed map displays it at its actual size, it is no more blurred by the zoom as it used to be.
On large screen and on multi-screens system, it allows to keep running or riding, keeping an eye on the landscape and its dangers, while the other eye tracks your position on the map.

Restoring default bags and map is possible, but you'll have to redo it again and again after each JRR update.

- In order to restore the fullscreen map, you have to manually edit the skindefinition.xml corresponding to the skin(s) you use.
There is one skindefinition.xml per skin.

Open it with Notepad or any other text editor, then delete these lines (located at the half of the document) :

<!-- Map Window, by Eclipse -->
<PanelFile ID="ID_UISkin_MapPanel">
<Element ID="MapBackground" X="0" Y="0" Width="1024" Height="768"> </Element>
</PanelFile>
<!-- End of Map Window -->

Don't forget to save the file, still on .xml file format.
At the next lotro launch, the map will be restored to fullscreen.

- You can restore original bags by deleting the whole text :

from " <!-- Ultra Mini-packs " to " <!-- End Ultra Mini-packs --> "

Don't forget to save the changes, still on .xml file format.
At the next lotro launch, the map and the bags will be restored to default.

Maps, Bags

Is there a way to make the map stay in full screen? And the bag icons to stop going away? By bag icons i mean they dont say bag 1 bag 2 or anything like that about them. Is there a way to fix these problems?

@ spyder2k5

I ignored Eclipse had thrown the towel with his UI !
This skin actually would deserve to be maintained

Unfortunately I'm already overloaded with JRR and its addons, and Eclipse would require a special attention I just can't provide as long Turbine keeps breaking the UI two times a month !!
I share opinion of Eclipse about Turbine job's quality and serious concerning the UI, and sometimes I feel tempted to say stop too

Nice job reworking all these old or abandoned interfaces, any chance you may do EclipseUI now that it has sadly been abandoned?
