Interesting. Were you possibly running ver 1.14 (or lower) previously and had not updated in a long while? Did you delete the GaranStuff or MoorMap folders between updates? Either one of those may have prevented the automatic update of the default data including map and image references. If so, there are two ways to fix this, you can either create dummy placeholder images for the POI images or you can download, install and run ver 1.15 to fix the image reference then download, install and run the latest version (1.19). Since there may be more than one reference it might be simplest to just do the download/install/update method.

If you choose to simply create place holder images, you can go to the "..plugins/GaranStuff/MoorMap/Resources" folder and copy three files:
vendor.tga to poi.tga
vender_hover.tga to poi_hover.tga
vendor_icon.tga to poi_icon.tga
NOTE, copy the files, don't just rename them as the originals are needed.
when you reload the plugin, it should automatically re-process the default data which will replace the references with the correct references and you can either delete the placeholders or just ignore them.

Please let me know if this resolves the problem (I'll fix this so that the updater can run without this error next release)

If after the plugin loads you do not see the new maps and all your POI annotations look like vendors then you will have to force a manual update of the default data. This is fairly simple, just right click on the plugin map, select "Add Annotation", then in the Annotation Maintenance window click the "Reload Defaults" button at the bottom. After the defaults are reloaded, the map should refresh and you should be all set.

Hey Garan,

great plugin.
I also have issues with (non-)draggable mini-icons.
I CAN drag the minimap icon, but the flag is not moveable.

Where does LOTRO save information for these positions?
Maybe I can manually move the icon by changing x and y coordinates in the variables files.

Cheers
Aurel

First, a little background info would help. Were you using a previous version of MoorMap? Do you successfully use any other plugins? Which client (Mac or PC) are you using? What operating system are you using and are you using Symbolic Links (if you don't know what they are or are using XP then the answer is no)? How did you install MoorMap (manually extracted or used Plugin Compendium)? (note, I recommend using Plugin Compendium since it eliminates a number of potential mistakes)

Please verify that you have NOT set the MoorMapTerminator, MoorMapLoader or MoorMapDefaults plugins to load automatically in the Turbine Plugin Manager (or third party plugin manager if you use one). Then verify that you have both the 'Standard' and the 'Error' channels selected in your chat window filter (right click on the chat tab and make sure Error and Standard are selected in the Filter list). Then unload all of your plugins using the "/plugins unload" chat command and then try loading MoorMap using the "/plugins load MoorMap" chat command. Let me know what the results are. At the very least you should get a message indicating that the plugin could not be loaded and if there is an error, you should get some indication. If successful, you should get a message as well as seeing either the map or the minimized icon.

Garan helped me figure this out tonight. Somehow my keyboard driver is causing my control key to not be recognized with the mouse unless I double click. Anyway, it's working now.

Thanks Garan!

Thanks for the update. Still not working, though. I tried deleting the plugin and all the files in the folder, exiting LotRo, reinstalling, then restarting. The icons work. The settings work. But, the icons are still not draggable. Again, I AM holding control while left-clicking and dragging but nothing happens. The icons don't move at all.

I even tried using the mini icon and it is not draggable for me either.

EDIT: Tested this on my laptop and got it to work. Any suggestion as to why it may not be working on my desktop?

I even tried running ti by itself on my desktop to ensure no other plugins were interfering.

Is there some file that Moormap needs that is not included in the download? Something I might have on one computer but not another?
You still have not answered which client you are using, Mac or PC and whether you are running a custom skin. This could be significant. It appears that your desktop may not be handling the Lua events properly (it sounds as though you have stumbled upon a bug in Turbine's Lua engine that doesn't affect all clients/operating systems). At this point, I believe we can agree that this is something specific to your desktop, not the plugin itself. We can verify this and perhaps find out what that distinction is fairly easily using the debugger built into MoorMap. I will send you a PM here regarding how to proceed.

The options are accessed from the plugin itself, not Turbine's Plugin Manager since the Turbine options panel was causing client crashes (and still does in certain circumstances so I simply do not use it). To access options in the plugin, click the map icon to open the map and then click the gear icon in the top left corner.

Are you using the Mac client or PC client?

Are you using a custom skin?

Are you using any other plugins? Try logging in, then use "/plugins unload" to remove all plugins and then "/plugins load moormap" to load just moormap to see if there is another plugin conflicting - if it works there is another transparent plugin window causing issues, just move the icon to where you want it then log out and back in and every thing should be normal. This is a bit of a long shot since you indicated that the buttons respond to mouse clicks.

Tried it again on another character and I'm having the same problem.

http://home.comcast.net/~knightblade/scrap/moormap.jpg

That's a screenshot from the System Menu>Plugin Manager showing that I am using 1.18 but there are no options for the plugin.

The following screenshot is of the two icons in the lower left corner of my screen. Both are nearly transparent unless I hover over them, so they are a bit hard to see:

http://home.comcast.net/~knightblade/scrap/moormap2.jpg

I am indeed holding down the control button then trying to left-click and drag them but they do not move at all. Yes, they do work where they are at, they are just not draggable and they cannot be hidden as there are no options.

Interesting. They are both draggable on all of my machines. The map icon can be dragged by holding control and start dragging anywhere on the icon. The quick annotation tool can be dragged by holding control and start dragging from the top edge (4 pixel top border - since it is a masked quickslot there is no way to allow dragging on the whole icon). Note, you must be holding control down before you press the mouse button to start dragging (which you probably already know). The drag has to be performed with the left mouse button, not the right mouse button.

Perhaps you have another transparent window catching mouse events? Do the icons function when clicked?

Just to be sure, you are talking about the 32x32 icon for displaying the plugin (or 16x16 in mini mode) and the 32x32 flag icon for making a new annotation, NOT the icons on the actual map - the icons on the map are not draggable and will most likely never be draggable.

EDIT draggable border on quickslot is actually 4 pixels on top and 4 pixels on left side
Are you possibly using the new Mac client?

Ver 1.18

Version 1.18 is now uploaded. This version is a partial update for the RoR expansion. Most of the default data has not yet been captured so only The Wold and Norcrofts contain default data. However, this update does contain a number of useful features which were worth publishing before waiting for the remainder of the default data.

First, in the Options panel you can now select "Most Recent" as your default map which will cause the plugin to remember your most recently used map between uses - this will now be the default for new users and the initial map displayed on the very first load will be Eriador rather than the Ettenmoors.

Second, there are city maps for Harwick, Cliving, Eaworth and Snowbourn for those that have trouble finding vendors and such in those cities. These are terrain based maps so they aren't the prettiest in the world but they get the job done.

Third, I've finally implemented Overlays. Overlays allow users to easily create and display a transparent overlay for a map. Each map can actually have several overlays displayed simultaneously with the Overlay Maintenance window controlling the order in which they overlay. This will allow users to create guides, etc. and easily display them with MoorMap. This function will become more useful as more interior/instanced maps are added. Additional details are in the ReadMe.txt file

Fourth, MoorMap now supports "Breadcrumbs". This allows the user to keep track of the path that they have covered. There are currently a number of limitations, first being that there is a bug in my interior location coordinate calculator so breadcrumbs are not working correctly in most interior locations (although I did fix Sprigley's Cellar for those wishing to see what it looks like in an interior). Breadcrumbs will also currently be added to all maps that include the selected coordinates, so if adding breadcrumbs to a city location, you will also see the breadcrumb trail as you zoom out to area, region, etc. I will likely change this in the future to only put the breadcrumbs on the map with the highest zoom level. Currently the "Clear" function clears breadcrumbs from all maps, not just the currently displayed map - this will likely also change if I change the breadcrumbs to only display at the highest zoom level.

To display a Breadcrumb, simply hold the Ctrl key while clicking the location button (or hold Ctrl while executing the /loc chat command). I personally chose to bind the /loc chat command to the '=' key on the built in quickslot bar that uses the Ctrl key modifier so whenever I hit 'Ctrl'+'=' I get a breadcrumb.

I will probably have an additional update in a couple of weeks for the additional default data and another update to fix the current issues with Breadcrumbs a few weeks after that.

Soon.

Or, sort of Soon. My RoR update will probably be released in two stages. I have not had a chance to explore all of the RoR areas so most of the default data has not yet been collected (I've only recently resurrected my game machine and it's still not running quite right). That said, there are a number of things that are ready for release, including the new moors POIs as well as city maps for Cliving, Hardwick and Snowbourn and two new features, Overlays and Breadcrumbs. Unfortunately I have run into an issue with interior coordinates and the Breadcrumb function which I hope to have resolved in the next day or two (I suspect it's just a simple parsing bug). I will probably release what is ready in the next couple of days and then follow that up with a default data update (which will also include some default data changes in areas like Esteldin) in a couple of weeks.
