Feedback.

I appreciate the "thank you"s. It's one of the few development activities that I maintain now that I'm retired. While it takes time to keep it up to date, it also saves me more time than if I didn't have it. I have 12 characters that I play, but only a few that I spend significant time on.

Dwarf Sword Sheath (edit: not) missing from update

Edit: I just noticed that you have corrected this issue already! Good work.

Hi,

Thanks very much for the plugin! Thank you also for updating it.

I have noticed that one of the tasks is missing from the update.

Dwarf Sword Sheath is a task for the Grey Mountains Expedition or Dwarf-Holds(GM) as you have named it.

I do hope you keep supporting the plugin.

regards
Faleras

Please help ... loading problem

Hi Vinny,

first of all .. your plugin sounds great ...
but ....
I cant use it.

Whenever I try to run it it says:
"DT: German data
DT: Daily Tasks 4.5.2, settings loaded.
attempt to compare string with number
...he Rings Online\Plugins\Vinny\DailyTasks\DT_Main.lua:65: Failed to import package
"Vinny.DailyTasks.DT_Window".
Laden von "Dailytasks" nicht möglich.
(means: loading of dailytasks is impossible).

I tried to replace some variables in DT_Window without success.
I tried to run an older version .. without success ...

I think its possibly a german client thing ... possibly a difference in
european and us-digit .. thingy ... like "." and "," ...
but I really dont know.
The Plugin is in the right place and all folders are named correctly.

Pls help ^^

Thanks in advance,
Patrion

Hi Patrion,

Here is a temporary fix for the plugin, until Vinny gets around to fixing it the right way.

Save the downloaded file (__init__.lua) into the plugin source code directory at
Plugins/Vinny/Common/__init__.lua
You will also need to delete your settings files. These are located at
PluginData/<account>/<server>/AllCharacters/DailyTasks_Settings.plugindata
and possibly
PluginData/<account>/<server>/<character>/DailyTasks_Settings.plugindata
Have fun,
-Thurallor

DailyTasks is *excellent*. With DailyTasks, I no longer need to run Chrome whenever I play LoTRO in order to Alt-Tab to the Wiki page "Tasks Bulletin Board", thus saving 250 MB of memory (Chrome is such a pig). DailyTasks is fast and offers an amazing variety of queries.

At the same time, DailyTasks is a pain in the butt to use. My complaints mainly focus of output formatting. You've done all of the difficult technical work already. Now (speaking as an old and hopefully wise IT guy), it's really time to stop adding features and produce a version with "image" in mind.

Here are some specific complaints:
  • DailyTasks' output goes to the Chat window. Why can't DailyTasks output to its own window in a nice tabular format? At present, for example, I run any /dt command. Then I don't remember what a two-letter faction code means, so I use the "LIST REP CODES" button of /dtw's Rep window to see the list of factions, which also outputs to the Chat window. Everyone else's Chat noise goes to the same window. I try to scroll up and down. More noise in the Chat window appears. It's a mess.
  • Is <level> (the minimum player level for which the task is offered) really necessary in the output of /dt commands? I've been playing LoTRO for almost a year. Never have I cared about a Task level. Trophies drop; if I need them, I use them. Can't you add an option so the user can specify whether <level> should appear in the output?
  • ReadMe.rtf is out-of-date and poorly formatted.

The list could go on and on. I think you get the point. One version with format over content, please.

Requested changes.

I'm an old retired IT guy myself. If I was getting paid for my work, I'd put a lot more window dressing on this product. However, as this is strictly a free offering without even donations, my first priority is to meet my own gaming needs and then add other helpful features for others. I've considered adding an output window, but it would take a lot of effort and little gain in functionality, so it's a low priority.

As far as listing task levels, that is the level when it is usable and it quite handy when you have multiple characts that you play at different levels. If you only play level 120, I can see where it wouldn't be useful. Again, this is a cosmetic thing that wouldn't improve functionality but would mean changing the code in many places, so request noted, but low priority.

Exclamation Version 4.6 (Lotro Update 24)

This revision adds the 5 new task board in the new Vales of Anduin region with their 4 new task items. I've done a quick verification that the new items work, but haven't spent much time testing so that I can make the new content available quickly. I'll probably need a minor revision after it's been used for a while (let me know of any bugs).

Note that we still lack a level 111-120 board in the Homestead areas, so these new tasks won't be visible there. Prodding the Lotro developers wouldn't hurt.

Re: Wrong version downloading

Whoops, sorry about that. That's what happens when I do things late at night and I'm half asleep! It should be good now.

Stone-worn Furs don't seem to be working

DT is telling me that they are junk but they are on the new task boards. It looks like the issue is that in the data file they are listed as "warn" instead of "worn". I manually updated my data file to change it to "worn" and it's working for me now:

Old: ["4F6FC"] = { N="Stone-warn Fur", H={ [120]="Wf" },
New: ["4F6FC"] = { N="Stone-worn Fur", H={ [120]="Wf" },

Thanks so much for the quick update!

Yes, it's a typo. Thanks for the bug report. I'll correct the code and see if there are any more issues before posting a revision.

There are two references, both spelled the same way, to the item at line 199 and line 614

Lines 198-200 are all comments where I was storing information while I was adding the new items. They don't affect anything and can be safely deleted.
