Description
[March 31st, 2012]

I have received numerous requests to reinstate the UI in the past year. After giving into demand, I attempted to find a resolution to the aforementioned issues. Unfortunately the problem is still there and I suspect will always be.

I am aware that many players are/were looking for exactly what this interface offered. And for a long time I was disheartened to disappoint them by discontinuing it. However there is some consolation that by the time I had found the root cause of the problems, Deewe had put together his own handy XML editor that allowed the user to achieve what I originally intended, without having to spend as much time and effort. With that knowledge I am less inclined to continue to attempt and fix this, and therefore cement the idea that this is officially discontinued.

[December 2nd, 2010]

It is with regret that I must abandon this project due to an irrevocable problem at the core of the package's purpose.

The famous center attack icons as seen in the screenshots, is causing hefty performance degredation under DX10 and DX11 use of the client.

At this time the only way I have found to amend the issue, is to return the attack icon(s) to it's original mainbar position - thus rendering the foundation of this package as useless.

Please however continue to support Deewe's skins and provided a solution arises I will do my best to reinstate the UI package.

[October 10th, 2010]
PLEASE NOTE
I am working on updating this user interface. New additions will be :

-Support for 1680x and 2560x resolutions primarily, with considerations for every resolution LOTRO currently offers.
-Bundled custom layout file(no manual adjustment required) You will be able to apply the skin, then apply the layout to match the screenshots automatically.
-Inclusion of Rampage meter
-Free to play compatible
-Working with Deewe's most recent skin version 2.5/2.4. Since this build started with Deewe's skinning and art, it will end that way as well.

However due to some unforseen errors, the process will be delayed with an expected upload date in late November and the current builds will be offline for a portion of that duration.

Please continue to give full support to Deewe.

*Note that I have removed all versions due to unknown incompatibilities. If you wish to investigate yourself, you can get a copy from the archive/old list. Provided you cannot make it work, please give Deewe's 2.5/2.4 a download - it will include a 1280X1024 and 1920X1200 version with a similar approach to mine.

================================================== ========

This is a pre-built UI layout, using the Yessh skin from Deewe and LUA/assett modifications to provide an extremely minamilistic UI with custom attack icons and vitals.

It includes modifications for 1280X1024(discontinued - pending updates) windowed resolution and 1920X1200 full screen(discontinued - pending updates) . It was designed and built to address the issue of some UI elements not being adjustable via in game options.

Features
(code) * :

Toolbar: The default toolbar has been removed entirely, including the experience meter. This can be turned back on via the .xml file, which is explained in the Readme.

Attack Icon: The attack icon has been detached from the original toolbar, and placed centered between the opponent and player vitals.

Violent Indicator: The violent indicator(empty fire ring as seen in screenshots) has been separated from the attack icon, and can be used as a proper tool to indicate battle status.

Fervor/Focus Bar: The Fervor/Focus bar has been detached from the attack icon and replaced in similar fashion, in the new location as seen in the pictures.

Portraits: Player and Opponent portraits are removed.

Vitals: Player and Opponent vital windows are frameless and transparent.

*This works with all normal targets, including Hero, Signature, Elite, Elite Master and PVMP.

Features (layout - All information is provided to match screenshots. UI element windows placement has been shown in the accompanying screenshots(not shown here) provided in the zip files. Additional scaling sizes are found in the Readme which you will need to use)

Please see take a few moments to read over the following information before proceeding to use this user interface.

- As of October 2010 these same UI elements still cannot be configured inside the game itself. Fortunately thanks to Deewe, there is an easier way to achieve these modifications.

Attached within the download package is am Excel file that will allow you to input your resolution and get automated results to add to your SkinDefinition.xml file.

- The readme files are still in their near original format, which was designed to encourage the users to be more hands on, so the template has stayed the same, to honor that opportunity.

Any additional information is relevant for those who wish to learn how to make modifications of their own.

- Check user submitted posts below, for any additional information or miscellaneous troubleshooting.

- Optional versions:

Yessh 2.5 US
Yessh 2.4 EU

*You are not required to use these as a working build is provided for you, however to show support for Deewe, please watch his updates more frequently than mine as they will come more often and timely.

- Information regarding the usage of another author's skins and/or the default LOTRO skin is addressed at the end of the Readme, in the Troubleshooting section.

Files in these packages:
Attack sequence screenshots
UI layout screenshot
SkinDefinition.xml
Readme (including code)*

*Readme best viewed in native .rtf format via WordPad.

Note about new trait bag button miscplacement.

Since the introduction of the Moira patch, the new trait/legendary icon might be showing in the upper left area of your screen with one of my builds.

This is because the icon is supposed to be on the bag bar, and the skindefinition file, does not have any parameters to address the new button.

I may look into adjusting this, hopefully sooner than later.

For now, it's fortunatley not an eyesore.

Hello Jadel,

Forgive my absence. Not much has changed in the way of UI interfacing for LOTRO since Deewe and I began working on and finished this.

I have however altered the code to be compatible with 1920 resolution and compiled the .xml file as well as a working version of Dewee's Yessh skin to make an all-in-one package for both resolution versions, as to be easier on the user.

In regards to your question:

From the way it sounds, you have 3d portraits turned on via your in game UI options found in the options menu.

If you've done as instructed, and you've turned those off, they should not be there. Included in the zip are the frameless and transparent/invisible portraits.
These only work(as in the screenshots) when you've also turned off portraits in the game itself as mentioned above.

If you do happen to ever come across this post, give that a try.

Or alternatively reach me on an MSN contact by viewing my profile.

Hi

I really like the look of your screenshots , so far I have not managed to get mine looking anything like those , even when trying the xml file found elsewhere on the site.

The main question I have is how do you get the unit frames to not have the picture on them like in the screenies, looks much neater without i think.

Thanks

Currently I am checking into any increased flexibility that Book 11 may have brought, at least in regards to this type of project, but haven't seen anything worthwhile so far.

I haven't needed to make any updates in the last month. Any persons who had issues or suggestions have all been handled privatley.

I am going to observe how the issues with both DX9 and 10 stability/performance pan out before looking into an update.

Addon .01

I've put up the .xml file used in the screenshots provided. This is for those who want to achieve the same look at a greater ease, though accessing the Readme is still a heavy recommendation.

Any issues concerning usage of the provided .xml file in the addon should be addressed via a post on that page and not here.

I'm still really pushing for people to fore-go using the .xml file, and edit their own, but for those that cannot, the addon has been posted.

Hello,

I wanted to add Hollywood done a great job on this layout and even more writing the howto.

So far it's the best layout I saw.

Not only useless things are hidden, but everything you need is gathered in the same spot. So your eyes need less movement going back and forth to vital elements.
