Osgiliath Updates

I am looking to update the plugin for Osgiliath but I have run into a few snags, namely, no one seems to play there and no one has any good ideas about what would make the plugin useful there.

There have been a couple of requests, but I am limited by the amount of information that Turbine provides through the plugin interface. Currently, almost all of the information the plugin uses comes from the chat window and your buff bar (the names in the buff bar specifically). In Osgiliath, Turbine seems to have only provided a few buff bar items and some of them use the same name with different effects (like the renown/infamy buff for controlling sections of the bridge).

I appreciate all feedback and suggestions though, so keep em coming.

Thanks for the info. Right now on my server Vilya no one really uses the new area. I suspect that will change after the mergers and new hardware. I will make suggestions when I can.

With the new PvMP area. Will you be updating this tool to include the new area?
I can, but I have not figured out what kind of data would be useful (and available) to display. I have asked around in OOC a few times while in Osgiliath on what would be a useful update and I never seem to get any answers. If you have any suggestions on what you would like to see, feel free to voice them here and I will see what I can do.

Yes, there is many limit that the Turbine made in the LUA include you cannot read the char location only after ;loc alias. But I think that is not a big problem. Make a button with "read position". After the player push it you can read the location, then acivate the "send chat" button. After the player sent it, disactivate again to make sure the player do not send any old position later.

If you already have the code that I suggested this is a small job and you did it
Sorry for the long absence but I have this implemented now. You can get relative positions from a number of "hot spots" on the map. I am also working on it to print out useful messages while in the delving. I have the basics working, but I have to expand on it a bit to make it 100%. I also have 1 other bug with Comms that I am tracking down. I will publish a new version when I have the updates in.

I use the lotro compendium for pump and I can't seem to find the remove the character data from all characters and it won't load even if I try PLZ help
Can you send the error output for the plugin? When you login or try to load the plugin, it should print out error messages to your chat window. Just make sure to obscure your username in any paths that appear.

Also, what OS are you running?

I had considered that, but at the time I figured it would be more than what most people would want to do. I see the button as more of a panic button if you are being chased and clicking 2 buttons didn't seem (to me) like something the average person would want to do. Obviously someone else had a similar suggestion so I will look into it.

Thanks for the feedback!

The data that is put in OOC when you activate the send button is actually filled in by the game (it uses the "pos:" macro). The only way to get that data would be to read that output and have the user hit send again which would end up being very confusing and lead to problems.

Hi
I had a plugin idea but because I left Ettenmoor and I do not plan to go back (the terrible lag kill the game) I want to share with you my idea. Maybe you can insert to this gorgeous plugin!

So there is the option where I can write I see some enemy and send it to OOC/etc. That is say usually a coordinate that say nothing the most of ppl without see etten map and try found.

So My idea, make in Etten smaller districts and name it with common names. Like "TR back door" or "TR grave yard" or "TA East Bridge" etc. It is not hard, you just need to make an array with coordinate pairs from smaller area to biggest and name it.

For example a box around TR BACK DOOR, then area TR FRONT DOOR then area TR (or maybe N-S-W-E side + CG and Quest room if you want) and show the first found. So if you are inside the front door box that say "12 creeps/freeps at the TR front door" if you far from door but still around TR say "12 creeps/freeps at the TR" etc.
I am sure it is clear, and mutch more help the ppl. to know where is exactly the enemy. Of course if you see from distance that show you position not the enemy but that is mutch more informative than a simple coordinate (that is also your coorinate).

I hope you can use my idea and integrate into the plugin! Or if the lag gone (hehe I am always a dreamer) I go back Etten and make this idea.
Thank you for the suggestion, unfortunately, I am unable to implement it at this time. I had a similar idea a few months ago and worked on it a bit. The problem is that there is not enough data available to the plugin right now. In order to implement this feature, the plugin would need to know the precise location of your character. The data that is put in OOC when you activate the send button is actually filled in by the game (it uses the "pos:" macro). The only way to get that data would be to read that output and have the user hit send again which would end up being very confusing and lead to problems. I already have the code written to do what you suggest (distance and direction from a zone/district of the moors) and if Turbine ever makes position data available to plugins, I'd be more than happy to make this work.

Sorry it's not the news you wanted to hear but the data available to plugins isn't a lot and we have to work inside those bounds.

Re: Problem with a mac bug.

So ive been wanting to get this plugin for quite sometime, so I finally did. I run LOTRO on a mac so i had to do a different process of installing the plugins, but once that was done i went into the game attempted to load the plugins and i got this message. Unable to resolve package "PvMP_Plus.Main". Please leave some feedback on how i can fix this problem.

-Cheers
Sorry about the long delay on this comment, but I normally get an email when a new comment appears.

Normally this message appears when a file is missing or corrupt. I would check the installation folder to ensure that the following files are all present at the same level:

__init__.lua
Main.lua
PvMP+.plugin

There will also be 15 other .lua files and 3 directories at this level. The error is coming out of attempting to load the .plugin file and running into an error loading up the Main.lua file which is the base class for everything.

Ill try to check back more often in case I don't get another email from your response.

Re: PVMP+ doesn't load

There are character-specific plugindata-files, server-specific plugindata-files and maybe even a account-sepecific plugindata-file. Check if you deleted the correct one (the path should be given in the error message as far as I know)
