Hi,

- there is no meta xml file to rule them all

- don't forget to save your changes in your xml file before relogging the whole game (not only the character) to see the changes you made.

- avoid confusion between :

opponent_vitals_backdropxxx
player_vitals_backdropxxx
player_vitals_backdrop_mini_xxx


Else you can simply apply the patch made by Bachia and/or yell on the lotro devs asking them to fix their mess, they are paid for that.

So I am in the middle of modifying JappMe skin by adding original vitals (as I posted earlier) which required some artistic touches here and there.

I'm now to the point where I would like to disable all custom vitals (including JRR CORE ones) since now the JappMe variants are closer artistically to the original LOTRO ones (oval level backdrop, thick status bar outlines, etc).

The problem with that is that even after removing mentions of e.g. opponent_vitals_backdrop_1_year.tga from the SkinDefinition.xml, the game still tries to load it.

I'm currently working with '_Universal light toolbar' xml.

Am I missing something here? Is there some sort of meta xml file which it falls back to? Judging from your post, the game should've reverted to the original vitals after I did that.

What's even more interesting is that some vitals removed from XML did revert to the original ones. For example, the Thirteen years and everything after that did (including the corresponding opponent vitals). So weird. Or am I going crazy?

Edit: and yes, I did try relogging.

Thanks for the positive feedback ! I will check those missing frames.

I've just added a bit of transparency on TGA pictures for Player and Target vital frames, nothing more. If there's a performance hit for you, you should try to compare with/without any skin.
And you're right, there is a huge fps drop with 3D Portraits ON.

I quickly tested the patch made by Bahia and didn't noticed such issues as you described.
Maybe have you forgotten to unlog then relog your character after selecting a skin in order to apply the new panel code parameters.

I see it lacks some vital frames with custom name, those beginning with lm_uf_ ( LedMirage's Unit Frames) in Durin's Folk and Eorlingas.

I put an early fix for the portrait thing on GitHub. I may have missed some frames (player or target vitals), so tell me.

Despite your best efforts I'm afraid it's worse than before. The 3d portraits do not fit into the circle at all and break some vitals too, like target of target.

Now for some reason 3D portrait takes 30 fps in game and eats monstruously the engine performance.

Can someone fix the Grey Wizard skin please?... Vitals are still broken and it's an absolute cataclysmic amount of work required to attempt to fix it.

- Yes, JRR Erebor still have some vital frames with the hole I forgot to fill, but this is not a problem, as there is a special picture (uf_portrait_cover.tga) which is dedicated to do it (the limit of this picture is it's common to all vital frames of the skin), this why I prefer fulfill manually each vital frame to get a full customization, despite the fact probably no one disable the 3D portrait in the options menu, so no one saw it untill now

- Nice job restoring the hole in the main BGM vital frames ! It can become very usefull if the devs choose not to fix the code

And yes, there are a crazy lot of vital frames : about 79 player vital frames (including anniversary and monster play) and near the same number for opponent vital frames ! When you add the fellowship mini vital frames and other various vital elements, the total amount is about 239 vital picture files per theme .
Lotro has grown a lot since its early days. In 2008, with the same amount of files, you had a whole theme like "JappMe Second Ivy" available for download on lotrointerface !

Funny mistake, my favorite skin has no player/target 3d portraits.

But with JJR Erebor it's only missing at the target

While we wait for vital portraits, and all the other things they broke, to be fixed, you can 'hack' your favorite skin by doing a search in the definition file and removing every line containing 'vital' in it. This will revert the vital frames to default, but the rest of the skin will work.
