Hobbit skin "Delving Hills"
Beta version available now.
Okay this is my first try on making a skin, so please bare with me :) But any constructive feedback or suggestion is appreciated. I'm starting with the minimap, planning to add some glow and more flowers as hope increases and making it more miserable when dread increases. Planning to show and share the progress in here and hopefully earn a spot amongst the great ones ^_^ |
With 5 hope =)
Though skinning Hobbits is socially unacceptable... This skin looks great!
Thanks for the heads up :)
Here are the 8 and 9 hope version. And 10 hope, shows a little bit of Gandalf in it, as many of the main characters were very fond of Gandalf: |
My girlfriend will love this :)
Here's the minimap with .. *earie sound* .. 5 or 6 dread.. the flowers and the wooden frame are almost charcoal..
ow and 3 or 4 dread.. when things start to look grim.. ..and if you ever face 7 or more dread.. |
Wow thats
Added more dread ones :) Next I'll be trying to do player portraits :)
Maybe the flowers would look dead when you get dread, withered looking.
Yeah I went for the easy way out and just blackened them :p as fragile plants are largely made out of water, they should shrink when exposed to heat. I'll see if I can make it more 'realistic'.
Okay I made some player vitals, but somehow my skin isn't listed when I add the portait elements to the XML file
Looks very cool! :)
If it isnt listed in the UI skins dropdown then there is an error in your xml. |
But I just copied the element text from the Book12 Turbine skin..=/ ..so I do not understand what I'm doing wrong exactly
I still don't know what I did wrong exactly, but guess LOTRO Interface Viewer made sure it was correct XML :p
Here are the vitals in-game: |
looking awesome.
Made a variation with a ribbon.. what do you think?
Yeah I been having trouble too sometimes with the xml.
I started to notice that any code that starts in the line at the beginning won't work. You have to leave 1 blank space when you add the code in every line. |
Ah that could explain some :)

I like the ribbon too, it makes it look more different :)
Awesome job, great stuff :D
Ribbon it is! :) ..and thanks for the heads up. Keeps me motivated :D
I made a nice cover for those with less performing hardware, when they turn off the 3D portraits: |
Looks great :)
Just Awww!
Absolutely fantastic
This is looking fabulous. I love the "cover", much too cute. Can't wait to see the finished product and upload. :)
Here's the "Letter box".. the main bottom bar. I personally am liking the original set up, so I'm not moving parts, just giving them a different look. Still have to work on the buttons, though. I found that the current auto attack button is looking hobbit-ish enough, so I just used that. I hope that it's permitted in skinning world :p Still have to work out the pips too :) ..of course work in progress and subject to change.
Looking really good.
I have a suggestion. Perhaps the "pips" could have shutters like a window. |
excellent job, kinnie ^^

Been tweaking the main bar a bit. Here without any (docked) bars shown. |
Or perhaps the circular icons could have shutters so they appear to be windows.

That was my plan already :)
great minds think alike.
This is so unbelievably adorable! :D
Thank you Oaris :)
Okay .. been working on the hunter's focus (9 pips fervour). I've tried to make something with lanterns.. but I kept in mind that you need to easily see how much you had (on higher resolutions) without having to peer at the small graphics. So I desiced to make banners with bright colours. Empty is white and the 3 focus is red, more gets blue and green. Will make a 5 pips for the champ as well, in the same fashion: |
Very cool indeed. Quick question, are you going to spice up the xp bar or leave it as is? Either way it'll look awesome.
I think I'll leave it like this. When it's in use it fills it up nicely with both the blue (rested) and the brown xp. I was thinking about that it was like a pavement in front of the house/building, like the "stairs" in front of the major's house in Michel Delving.
Edit: Here it's with full rested on my burglar (and you can see the empty slots too): |
Now the really important question, when can we download this gem and use it?
When it's finished :D
