I don't understand how to provide updates
I'm having trouble updating my plugin - to provide a new version I wrote.
I don't understand whether I should use the "Patch" or "Add-on" option. There seem to be multiple ID numbers associated with the plugin. I have no idea which is the right on. I think that's confusing Compendium (which tries to go back to version 1.6.1 instead of updating to version 1.8. There's also a version 1.9 of my plugin that someone else uploaded... very confusing. I'd like to clean out the old versions, and just have one correct version. Where can I read about the ID numbers, and how I'm supposed to update the plugin? Thanks! |
Can you give me a direct link to your addon and I'll help you sort it out. :)

Thank you!

Ah, I see what you are doing. You shouldn't be uploading the changes as patches, you should be using the [Edit] button at the top right of the window (by the download button) to upload updates. The Patches/Addons is for other people to upload patches to it if you stop updating it, or for you or others to upload addons that provide additional functionality if applicable. Make sense?

Ah, I see! I'll give it a try, thanks!

Worked fine. Approved. :)

I just made the self same mistake with one of mine (BandAide - https://www.lotrointerface.com/downl...-BandAide.html)
I uploaded what I thought would be a new version for it (https://www.lotrointerface.com/downl...-BandAide.html) but did it as a patch; any chance of either deleting the new upload or retagging it? |
It would be easiest if you just re-uploaded it yourself as an update.
|
Understood, will do - any chance of nuking the patch version to not confuse people; I don't appear to have the power to remove it.
|
Gah, I appear to be super dense - so this time I chose addon rather than patch, and it still appears as a separate thing rather than just updating the addon itself.
