Announcing The Lord of the Rings Online's Move to Free-to-Play!

June 4, 2010 was a big day for LOTRO! If you haven’t heard yet, today we announced that LOTRO is going Free to Play! With the news of the change to LOTRO’s business model, I’m sure you’ve all got a lot of questions. The following resources should address many of them.So what does that mean for you? LOTRO F2P opens up the game to millions of potential players that might never have considered a subscription game and they’ll want to learn all they can about LOTRO from every resource they can find. This means more readers for your guides, blogs, and news articles and more listeners for your podcasts.

Soon we’ll be contacting you with opportunities for your readers and listeners to earn priority beta access and we’ll continue to make special beta access opportunities available throughout the summer.

We’ve also officially announced that our next content update, Volume 3 Book 2, will include an all-new region, Edenwaith, that will ship with the launch of LOTRO F2P! There are some great new features coming with V3B2 and we can’t wait to tell you about them. We’ll have more details about both F2P and V3B2 as we get closer to our launch date. In the meantime, as always, if you have questions or there is something I can help you with please don’t hesitate to ask!

Thanks for your continued support of The Lord of the Rings Online! It’s going to be a great summer!
