TGA file question...

Ok I'm sure this is going to sound like a dumb question, but I'm modifying
some of the TGA files and that's the easy part.

The problem I have is this...

I've modified the chat box images and they look like I want them, but
the black area around the image is not coming through as transparent.

So what am I doing wrong here?

For transparency you will need to use the Alpha layer. You can make an Apla layer by going to your channels panel (in Photoahop that is, you may have to figure it out yourself in a different program) and click on the "create new channel" button at the bottom of that panel. It's grey toned: white is 100% visible, black is 100% transparent and any grey in between is semi-transparent.

It does yes. At least the newer versions (I've been using PS since 6.0)

yes... then you open an TGA file go into the channels tab.
you'll see the channels listed from top to bottom like this...

<--- This is what you want...

Aha, there it's hiding. Funny, it seems like there's like 3 different ways of handling the alpha channel in Photoshop... anyway, that's all I needed to make things work, Great!
